I have mitral regurgitation I'm always out of breath and I can't walk long distances at all. I had to stop working because I didn't feel productive anymore because I was tired all the time. I've had so many tests in the last five months but my doctor just monitoring things right now. I have chest pains on a daily basis along with palpitations. Most days I'm bloated and nauseated as if my heart was going to jump out my chest. I thank God so much for caring for me sick or well. I owe everything to God especially when these pains are going down my left arm and I can't be still. I serve an awesome God and he always there.

My heart doctor wants me to bulid my lungs up and start walking but that is so hard for me. You know maybe I can start short distance and build up. My biggest fear is going to far and collapsing from lack of oxygen. I know I'm probably over thinking the situation but I'm just afraid of my whole diagnosis. My GP heard a murmur and I’ve been having problems with my heart for years (undiagnosed) but I’ve always known something was wrong. I went a few weeks ago and I’ve got an Echo on the 27th of February and I’ve got a 48 hour tape starting on the same day. I’m hoping it’s something that doesn’t require surgery 😳 I get really very stressed watching hospital programmes on the telly and I always feel like im the one having the procedures done (even though I’m the viewer) I’m extremely squeamish and I hate needles! So I’m dreading it but also looking forward to getting to the bottom of my problem

So what can we do to reverse it? I was put on metoprolol 5 years ago, and I am only 29. I don't feel any better, I still get palpitations, shortness of breath and cannot exercise. I also suffer from alot of anxiety. I feel that there are not enough studies on this matter, we are just sitting and waiting for it to get worse and then get surgery, but that doesn't seem like the best solution, does it? I wish heart doctors would be more educated on mvp and give us sufferers of mitral regurgitation a complete plan that we can follow to feel better and even reverse it, as I've heard it's possible. From nutrition, to supplements, exercises to do, breathing techniques etc. When will that exist for us who feel so darn bad every day? I am tired of going to my yearly checkup and my doc saying: oh, you are fine, just take your magnesium, do moderate exercise and don't worry. Ha, easy for you to say, you don't know how miserable I actually am!
@AlexandraZe7 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is mild. But my doc told me I also have a mild tricuspid regurgitation, plus my mitral valve is "balooned". Usually the baloon form keeps coming and going, she says she saw that with my valve. My doc is sweet and she always reassures me it's ok, but last night I couldn't sleep at all because my heart was going wild for hours. Been like this for a few days and it's exhausting. Even my metoprolol wasn't helping. I get this when I feel extreme anxiety, but I usually cannot understand if I have anxiety due to my mvp or my mvp symptoms get worse due to anxiety. My doc is the best one in town, but she's not helping me too much... Thank you for the reply.

@@kiezzjang301 just saw this 2 years later. First surgery I was 5 and have no shortness of breath after. however, Since they didn't fix the cleft in the Mitral valve back in the sixties, the cleft calcified and leak ( reguritation) slowly became worse. Unbeknown to me. I went into Atrial fibrillation in 2012. They did a cardiac work up and discovered a large mitral valve leak. Then, 50 years after my first surgery I had OHS again. This time they put a cloth ring on the mitral valve so it will close. But I have atrial fib still. So ya, still short of breath.

I would pay money to have someone sit and discuss with me those three pieces of paper I see showing the test results and also look at the actual video and pictures taken during the test. How does one truly understand the stuff if the doctor really doesn't have any interest in talking to you about it in great detail which goes against patient care cause they may not have enough time because they're so busy cramming so many other patients through the door or they're just lazy and not helpful or arrogant

Is there any good doctor there to treat this? I am a Filipino too but I'm lucky enough to be in the US. Good luck to both of us. I've been going to my cardiologist years ago even I really don't have a heart problem until now. I have a mild leak and my cardiologist said 95% of his patients have it and they also said that 70% of the general population have it and don't even know it.

@@alexandermarbaniang8342 hello. If the echocardiography reports are normal, you have nothing to worry about. I had something called Mitral valve prolapse , but even that's common it seems. @@alexandermarbaniang8342 don't worry , since ECG reports can show LVH even if you don't have it , that's why doctors recommend to take echo to confirm. Since your echo report is normal , there's nothing wrong with your heart , and you can enjoy your life 🧬.

I accidentally damaged my heart by lifting a 90lbs item using my left hand to put inside a car trunk. From then on I have MVP and regurgitation, chest pain, palpitations and shortness of breath. I'm only 27. Been suffering from almost a year. Not sure how long I have until its game over.

I do not think one can damage the mitro valve lifting heavy. Why are you not scheduled for heart surgery? thanks
@CelestialTrailblazer Жыл бұрын
@@joman388 Doctors in the medical field consider MVP in general a non-emergency issue unless the patient reaches a point when they require surgery. I have MVP with mild regurgitation and mild tricuspid and trace pulmonic regurgitation. All probably, either caused by over exertion since I used to be a weightlifter or from shoveling snow for hours in frigid temperatures or from post cov!d damage. I had zero symptoms until April 2021. I used to always put my body under a lot of stress. I used to always push my body to an absolute limit. Especially when it comes to weightlifting, exercising etc. I simply didn't know the impact it could have on my heart over time. The human heart is very fragile. It is possible, because of the intense physical stress, I eventually damaged my heart valve. Another possibility could be it was cov!d that damaged my heart valve and altered my heart's electrical system. Prior to all of this, I had zero pre-existing condition related to my heart. Also, there is zero family history of heart disease.

@@CelestialTrailblazer Thanks ,I have heavy regurgitation and was fine up until likely a few years ago.Mine is likely from marfans syndrome {,long limbs,fingers and tall .} I have never heard that extreme exercise would or could cause such,My question to you would be did you take steroids or drugs that allowed you to ignore your tiredness easier? I am 67 years old and likely getting crack open in a month or so,something to look forward to,but a necessary chance for normal life.The answer to this is always be ready to meet the Lord Jesus as that is sooner or later.thanks

@@joman388 I appreciate your response and to answer your question, no, I wasn't taking anything. I was an all-natural weightlifter/body builder. There are several ways you can damage your heart valve or have a damaged heart valve: 1)Virus 2)Over-exertion (ie: Lifting too heavy, too much cardio and or high intensity physical activities) 3) Born with MVP since birth 4) Pregnancy (Rare) 5) Heart Inflammation 6) Obesity 7) Sleeping on your belly after a heavy meal 8 ) Years of heart rhythm problems 9) Tumor 10) Post-surgical complications I probably had the combination of 1, 2, 7 and 5

My doctor said that its normal that I dont have to worry that we just need to watch out for it, my cardio only gave me Ivabradine 2.5mg Twice daily. every year I should do 2Decho but for 2yrs I did not do it bcoz I work in different country. Then I had my check up again with different cardio he said it's only in my mind, anxiety and depression. And he gave me bisoprolol 2.5mg tablet as needed if I have chest pain and tachycardia. My ecg reading result is I have Sinus tachycardia also I dont know if its connected..

Well they can REPAIR mvp pretty easily, I had it done in October, I went back to work 5 weeks later and have walked 2 miles at a time with no issues, there was no more surgery pain after surgery than a tylenol now and then didn't take care of, after the 2nd day I didnt even need that. It was a 4 hour surgery, it all went well and was not a big deal. The thing is I HAVE insurance at work, the invoices I got from the insurance showing me the costs etc showed that the mitral valve repair and putting in a pacemaker, plus misc charges and 6 days in the hospital cost $145,000, the previous costs associated wit it all months earlier, CT scan, ecg's echo cardiogram, months on $600/mo Eliquis etc etc were about $30,000 and now finishing up twice a week rehab sessions, all told the costs were around $190,000 ALL covered by insurance, can't imagine what people who dont have insurance can do...
