It comes out beautifully, I have done them myself. The only size I feel it does not work is if you are making hats for preemies as it is too bulky, especially micro premises whose heads are the size of a small plum. But for full term newborns right on up to adults, this stitch is great for hats. I especially love them with variegated yarns and as a mix stitch type hat, but they all come out beautiful.
