"I Have Decided To Follow Jesus" | Tommy Walker (from Generation Hymns 3)

This song is based on the last words of Nokseng, a man from the Garo tribe of Assam in the late 1800’s. He and his family were threatened by their chief to deny their new faith in Jesus or face death. Nokseng replied with, “I have decided to follow Jesus.” With these words, his family was killed in front of him. Then his own life was threatened by the chief and Nokseng’s response was, “Though no one joins me, still I will follow. The cross before me, the world behind me. No turning back!” He was then killed. In a shocking turn of events, the chief was so moved by the demonstration of this man’s faith, that he also became a believer in Jesus along with his tribe.
This story shows the power of a commitment to follow Jesus, no matter the cost. With our focus on our Savior, and not on this world…or ourselves, we too can live the life God has set before us, regardless of the obstacles or sacrifice. God, help us to run towards the cross with joy… no turning back…to show a lost world the grace and love of Jesus!

I prayed all through it. When the rich young ruler couldn't meet the holy standard of God, despite this desire, & his disciples said, "Then who can be saved?" Jesus replied, "With people it is impossible, but with God, all things are possible." If you walk with Jesus, your mind on His Word, with Jesus a part of all you do, He takes you higher, by His presence, His challenges, His wisdom, His strength, the leading of His Spirit, even help of His angels, step by step, & does the rest for us, that we cannot do, to make us holy right. Does Jesus give angels to help us? I know He does. I've seen it numbers of times, including on a road trip, when I couldn't stop praying for our safety, obsessively, for a day & a half, in the back seat, despite a stack of books at my feet. I happened to sit up (having been under a blanket, laying back), but then looking right in the face of the driver, my head peeking between the seats, the exact minute the driver fell asleep. I was able to shout his name, wake him up & direct him to the side of the road.... Or the times I've prayed about my struggles to do the work God is calling me to do, & have repeatedly received daily Bible based devotional/ life application Words, right when seeking God, with promises of angelic help. I could tell more... Jesus will be in your life in a real way if you invite Him. He works with our free will, not automatically. Jesus bless you today. Love wins.
