I remember watching a TMV stream where he said that DFM's biggest problem is that they are the only team in the whole of franchising that doesn't have that star player that could carry them over the line when it matters most and they also have extremely weak firepower. I would say that their biggest issue is their language barrier. Because of their fanbase, people think japan has a large player pool to work with. However, the player pool is actually rather small and shallow compared to other regions. They just have a huge fan base that is fae superior to the actual player base. Even before franchising, their best players outside of zeta division were mostly non-japanese players. Even now, remove zeta from the equation and the most well known players to come out from the region are something who is russian and meteor who is korean. Even players like bazzi and munchkin were the ones who shone when playing in japan. Essentially, with zeta having all the best japanese players back when franchising was announced, DFM had their hands tied. Not to mention, with 3 korean teams and global esports taking the best korean players that could speak japanese, their hopes had to be placed on weaker players. There definitely is more talent to work with now and i hope they can get things straight, although it doesn't look too good

Due to the rules, DFM can only select one Russian player. The main strength of the 2023SZ roster is two Russians and one naturalized Japanese, and all of them cannot speak Japanese, so they cannot be chosen.

iirc at masters tokyo, every participating teams blacklisted DFM for scrims. Even other pacific teams avoid them because no one can learn anything by playing with them.

i would argue that japan doesnt have the playerbase to support 2 T1 teams. They have crazy viewership numbers but you know something is wrong when t2 team resort to korean & russian imports

Yeah like its pretty obvious for me, that if your team flops then you just pick up a team from tier 2 scene. As we know that many tier 2 teams are just that good and the there is already some chemistry between them. I dont know why the organisation are so stubborn on keeping such weak lackluster rosters.

Riot's criteria for choosing franchise teams are a bit complicated, as you can see as example they gave franchise to rrq that doesn't have a solid valorant team before franchise exist

Can you cover a Valorant Malaysian division named Todak? Todak's PUBG and ML are T1 in SEA but failed internationally. But Todak Valorant division don't do well in APAC after lost to PRX and some APAC teams

なんでこのロースターになったのか信じられない。日本選手でもいい選手はたくさんいますし、FL NTH RC SZ　 などいいチームはたくさんある。その中でjoxjoなどを入れ再建へ動いているのかと思ったら、joxjoを直前で手放したりするのマジで意味が分からない。チームの方針でそうなったなら、選手が本当にかわいそう。CRメンバーも好きだったけどDFMというチームは少しブランドとして見れない。
