On a serious note, I love you dearly and relate to you so much. I'm also a Texas girlie now living in CA, I relate to a lot of trauma you've talked about. I'm sorry things didn't work out with the Irishman - but it's his loss. It makes my heart hurt when you say he got sick of you, that you were expecting it to happen because it always does. I hope you know you are a bright and shining light, full of humor and love and it may be too bright for some - but not for the ones that deserve to receive it and appreciate it. It's a him problem. I hope you keep your heart open because while there are a lot of stupid men, you only need one out of billions and I believe he's out there, wondering where you are and ready to not just "tolerate" you but to thank God every day for you. For me, I struggled a lot with codependency, I still do, but it made me crave to be wanted. To be wanted deeply, to the point where it made me want people I logically didn't actually want but stuck in limerence over them, it was like a drug. But I just wanted them to want me. I didn't feel wanted growing up, I didn't feel lovable. I was too much. Too loud, too crazy, too sensitive. I have done a lot of inner child work to be the loving parent I needed and didn't get. I've stopped saying anything negative about myself because the brain doesn't know the difference between my voice and someone else's so it's just abusive (I would never call those I love stupid or any of the others things I said to myself). I say all this to say that I hope you know how lovable and loved you are, and that I hope you are giving yourself all the love too

What gets me is the whole fresh and fit mentality about wanting to “be a man” and to “provide for” their woman in these traditional gender roles, but they don’t want to do it the traditional masculine way. They want an equal financial partnership, but they want all the emotional benefits of a traditional partnership. She cooks, cleans, takes care of him and never outshines him, and what does he do? Provide? She has a job too, doesn’t need him for that. So what good does that make him? What is it to “be the man” in a relationship if he has nothing else to offer?

I'll take this as a genuine question and mean no offense based off of my experience. You're dumbing yourself down by what you can do for a woman rather than who you are! Women who are truly looking for a partner is looking for love, support, and a partner to go through life with. It's someone you enjoy so much that you want to experience life with. If women are talking to you and ONLY talking about what you can do for them, it'll never work out. I can explain more if you want :) I hope this helps

@@mattie2527 yeah, I agree, a relationship built on what someone can do for you instead of trying to actually get to know and enjoy the person is doomed for sure. I was just criticizing the generalized alpha male logic of both wanting a woman to fulfill certain “womanly duties“ while simultaneously maintaining independence so that he can reap all the benefits and do none of the work. Relationships should have balance, both partners taking on responsibilities to help the other because they love each other. It’s how you treat one another, it should never be one-sided.

The Kybalion is an old book in the public domain which explores mental gender in a more abstract way and is pretty insightful if you want to explore this topic more but away from the meme-y 2024 sound byte mind numbing white noise. In a hyper-independent hyper-individualist culture like ours it makes complete sense that people of all genders will naturally start integrating the larger scope of human experience into their mental field and not just the one they culturally inherit based on genitals and hormone levels.
