I am also from Kisii where property is divided among boys and nil to girls. I personally chose to divide all my estate to all my four kids(2boys and 2 girls) equally. Actually my estate after my demise should benefit all my grand children not even my grown boys and girls(All married but one(last born). Guys, we are Africans, let us love all our children equally. Boys and girls are are equally good to us parents. You will never know the amount of support you can get from the daughters you are letting go. Me I know what each child can benefit the parents.

I am so touched. Nobody deserves this. You are one brave woman, Nyaboke. This has triggered a memory I have buried. Some 26 years ago, my marriage almost broke up because my MIL insisted that my daughter undergo the cut. I hadn't gone through it myself. She would spit in derision and murmur: egesagane whenever she came into her sight or passed by. I fought for my daughter to the extent of almost exiting my marriage. I stood up to my MIL, all and sundry. My husband "finally" stood with me. The pressure by society was overwhelming. It is well, Daktari. May the LORD bless and keep you!

When God lines up your path to destiny, no human being can interrupt it. Dr. Nyaboke's purpose in life was well aligned right from birth, and His grace manifested every step hitherto. Maybe what I can feel as a devastating or painful episode is that of being molested by someone she knew, albeit naive. But the good thing is, Jehovah directed her to a "REAL" man who helped her process her past slowly jini ya maji. Big up Nyaboke. "You can define your own power. Don't let people do it. " powerful partying shot👏👍🙌

Wow, Lynn what a show, what a guest and what an incredible learning curve. It's quite a rebuilding story. She has given purpose to her pain. I agree with you on that Lynn. Nilifanyiwa yes but that is the past that helped me learn to pick up the pieces and redefine my purpose to my destiny. That's what experiences teaches us in life journey guys. Lynn thanks for impacting the larger audience, globally. On that set, you are two awesome beauties in black. You look unapologetically stunning, the Kenyan incredible women of purpose. Dr. Nyaboke baba you are unapologetically beautiful and a woman of purpose out to change the stereotypes and or the cultural norms that have been outdated if I can call that. I come from kisii and can readily relate to what you are saying. I grew up in the 60s and 70s when the circumcision practice was a rule rather than an exception. But, growing up and getting children in the 80s and the 90s, many things had changed and the practice of female circumcision was kind of hedging off. I and my wife decided we can't subject our two daughters to such dehumanising act. That was it. Today, all our children(2 boys, 2 girls) are adults and successfully married in/out without any problem or regrets whatsoever. Nyaboke, the children traumas you experienced as you are narrating it on GBV in-house is sad and by all means unacceptable. I witnessed first hand the same in my parents but our mother took a bold step to educate us albeit the violence till I achieved university degree. I promised that I will never touch my wife or allow my children to suffer any sort of ridicule. Many Kisii men are very violent as you are saying. I can confirm it because I am from there. It's basically the choice that one has to make. I chose love, purpose and peace over violence. Today I live a fulfilled life full of peace, incredible family love and exceptional mental wellness. I have given a bit of my side to help validate Nyaboke's story and secondly to motivate Lynn's fans that life happens in not very kind or smooth path but one with lots of disappointments and rough terrains. The only positive affirmation is that such experiences don't define you or your destiny but purpose does. Every nasty experience you pass through guys teaches you courage and a reason to live to your purpose. Life is not meant to be that smooth and free-flowing. Each one of us has a a side part that is often silent to the public gallery. The fact that Nyaboke is coming out with a traumatic experience coupled with a book to be serialised as one to be remembered in Kenyas anals of history is something special. Nyaboke baba, I affirm you for the courage and intention to bring this out. The book and your story stands a great lesson to the kisii, Kalenjin and Maasai culture. I believe it shall serve as a great reference point. Lynn, keep bringing relevant contents like this that impacts society positively. As always, you are our Kenyan Queen of hearts. I pray for your health and mental wellness as you keep touching lives.

I dated a guy from your area. 2006. I remember he used to refer to me as 'egesagane ke". And his friends would refer to me that way. Lynn, its hard to change the larger society or regulate how individuals behave in their respective diverse environments. People grow in unique settings that triggers or circumstances drive them to. The best we can do as individuals is to try and process the past for the purpose of healing and moving on. However, the first step MUST be forgiving. Until you forgive the tormentors that impacted your life negatively, the heavy load inside your unconscious mind can weigh you down. Just forgive guys and know that counselling is the best avenue to your mental wellness.

Some two or so years ago I would discourage my person (RIP) from watching Lynn's channel coz she would binge on the really sob stories and would get emotionally charged and moody or say things like, 'haki you men are so evil', etc. Over the last one year, the content has really balanced out, like this video, and speaks to an even larger audience. I've even had the chance to patronized some of the guests services.

Thank you for sharing this story....its a "But God" type of story. Sigh....😢....I feel sad that the perpetrator has walked away free. I couldn't help wondering how many other children he abused. I really feel he should be reported, called out as part of justice. Often families try to resolve sexual abuse to no avail. The perpetrator walks away free and continues to molest other children in the community. I wish you would seek justice for you and the others he molested ( I feel like you weren't his only victim).

I agree, closure could come from facing the perpetrator, .......how many other vulnerable kids have been victims and possibly still in danger. While not holding grudges, other children could also have justice

Dr. Nyaboke well done!! I always wondered why you did not socialize in High School even within our class. I knew something was wrong, but I did not know about depression and mental health. You have gone through a lot and I can still see you holding back, but its your journey and I am very proud of what you have achieved all on your own.

This was so incredibly inspirational, I'll say it now Dr Nyaboke if you decide to make your book an audio book I will be first in line to grab a copy and would even be honoured to be the voice behind one of the chapters if you'll have me. "We are the ones we've been waiting for" Wishing you all the best that life has to offer. Thank you Lynn as always for bringing us another amazing story of resilience, hope and the power within us by God's grace ❤

Washington state cut rates for men 10%, Oregon 10%, California 23% , New Mexico 16%,West Virginia 91% highest in US . West, North Africa highest rates, followed by Central . US rates dropping after America Medical Association in 1990 declared the procedure cosmetic for men and traumatic for women . US government insurance no longer supports routine infant procedure in multiple states . East and Southern Africa Variations and lowest rates in Southern Africa territories . North Africa high rates due to religious and cultural reasons . In Kenya rates for men have gone up for medical reasons including in communities that historically had low rates . Ghana 91.6%, Eritrea very high 97.2%, Uganda lower 26.7%,South Africa 44.7%,Zimbabwe 9.2%,Zambia 12.8% . Like any procedure Pros and Cons up to doctors and families .

But currently working as a house manager in Saudi Arabia, I wish you'll give me a chance to express myself, because really, i went through hell, hopefully I'll be given a chance and be able to do it😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

What I can say abt this whole conversation is that we need to teach the men in every society that still champions on FGM on the hazard that it comes with , because statically men are the ones who force their daughters to undergo the cut not knowing what happens afterwards young girls die , young girls after the cut they wont be able to smile again their happiness is taken from that act , there should be a campaign for the men in regard to this whole conversation,

which statistics? You don't know what you are saying. Mostly it's mothers who talk their daughters to be circumcised. And for good reasons regarding marriage traditions in their culture. But as men, we are okay with receiving even undue criticism. From your school, we know that every problem in the world is men
