To be Pro-Israel/Pro-Zionism *IS* to be Anti-Palestine, because Israel/Zionism's goal almost explicitly is the destruction of Palestine and the "completion" of Israel. This also works with the Russo-Ukrainian War (or any instance of Imperialism. Being pro-Ukraine simply means wanting Ukraine to keep its sovereignty and territory. I can imagine that (at least before the war) most Ukrainians didn't mind letting Russia continue on as its own nation (though, Russia had been meddling in Ukraine a lot, even before 2014). However, Being pro-Russia is almost always an anti-Ukraine stance, because Russia's goals are to end Ukrainian statehood and destroy Ukrainian culture (which is why they are already settling occupied regions with MORE Russians). Again, this example works with basically any imperial action in history. If you are pro-empire, you are NECESSARILY anti-the-people-being-oppressed/invaded/killed/etc.

I go to ours, and I am not a student. But the organization is being done by students. I go because my spouse works for the university (political science) and is also on the board of governors. I want to go to make sure the police are behaving and show the protestors they have some community support outside of their circles. I also can give my spouse a honest account of what's going on when she gets reports from the institution that conflicts with what I see (and the other protestors and the police.)

Granted, quick thinking was required. Her role as a reporter with the task to engage in dialogue. The crowd, understanding their individual participation hinges upon an agreement not to engage with agitators. It's not surprising she thought they were laughing at her, yet I believe that was her window to genuinely engage with the crowd on their terms. Had she done so, I think it could have been made clear that the "vibe checks out." Her unwillingness to laugh with them, validates the crowd's presumptive treatment (of her, as a presumed agitator).

Texas A&M university, weirdly, has actually been really chill with protests over the last week. Just Monday, there was a peaceful demonstration in front of the academic building. They were well-organized and had a media statement document prepared to be handed out to press.

Heres a question. If Universities are allowed to invest and privately gather income from their investments. And the capital they use to make those investments is primarily from tuition payments. Then why the hell are tuiton fees so big? Why are they allowed to charge so much for tuition if those funds dont go directly to the university. And the university has its own independently sourced income? Those are federally backed and guaranteed funds. Thats how student finance works. And to take it a step further. if i took federal money, money that is specifically earmarked for a purpose and dumped it onto the stock market. That would be fraud, that would be massive fraud and id rightly so, go to prison. Even with a step of separation. I dont think theres a single source of federal funds. That dont have specified uses. Youre not allowed to just use it as you wish.

I find it _striking_ how similar their rhetoric against the protesters is to the rhetoric against trans women in women's spaces (where they have a right to be!). No evidence of real harm, no data to support why action must be undertaken, let along such drastic action, nothing more than "it made the [cis] women in there uncomfortable/afraid". Same exact rhetoric "Jewish students are afraid to go to campus" - which hasn't even been demonstrated to be an issue in any worrying numbers, and even then the important question is whether they support a state currently commiting g*nocide, not whether they're Jewish. Because remarkably, the Jewish students who _aren't_ supporting a g*nocidal nation aren't feeling unsafe. It's almost like being Jewish actually has nothing to do with it and it's just whether or not you support g*nocide or not.

I think some valid data from these studies is being "borrowed" by people in an effort to claim... well, this is why I'm bringing it to your attention. When an argument against trans women attempts deferring to science, I think it starts to sound similar to the evidence given to justify funding lifestyle design for combat vets. Example: they substitute "evidence of real harm" with data proving an, "irrefutable link between perceived threats and real harm." "any* presence perceived as imposing and real harm." A great deal of focus was placed on identifying things which "spook" veterans (most are from the Gulf War, 1991), with hope of adapting the process of reintegration. Bathrooms and lobbies score higher with regard to calculated risk. Naturally, the space and those interacting with it are not in the veteran's control. They may experience something that instantly results in personal safety feeling compromised. Some is sort of obvious. Some not so much. A closet washroom, single stall, carries high risk of being startled by someone knocking on the door. A veteran might be triggered into a state of mind they cannot quickly retreat from, especially if the knocking repeats. None of the 2016 data has anything to do with trans women, trans men, Israel, Palestine, etc -- yet there is valid data pertaining to perceived risks in a public space and real harm. Call out the misuse if and when you see it.

Some colleges did have ties to Russian universities that were cut when the Russian Ukrainian war started including mine and we cut ties when the war started, even though we have a good amount of Russian professors and students (although I have never heard any of them actually support what Russia is doing). I'm actually quite impressed at the protestors for stonewalling the content creator the way they did. They politely declined the requests and directed them towards an appointed figure, and they were completely impassive while she was having her manufactured meltdown, except for one person laughing at the fake tears. Many Jews (in some places most Jews) support Palestine, much as many women (in some places most women) support trans rights, so the opponents are often relying on a fake sense of consensus or majority feeling in the group being discussed. Moreover, feeling unsafe isn't the same as being unsafe-- when people believe they're under threat, but aren't, this difference between appearance and reality is important. Also, even when people are unsafe, it's because of broader discrimination and bigotry, the vast majority of which has nothing to do with the resistance movement at issue. A fraction of people in the resistance movement are morons with bigoted or terrible ideas, which is true of most any movement, and not something its external critics have any understanding of anyway. Finally, it's hard for me to take the idea of people "feeling unsafe" about protests THAT seriously when millions of people in Gaza feel unsafe and ARE unsafe in the extremely obvious sense of being mass murdered and starved and rendered destitute no matter where they go and no matter what they do. This is so obvious I feel like I'm the one taking crazy pills here.
