Coming to America...is my favorite Eddie Murphy film. Precious and CP brought up the great points of Prince Hakeem controlling his own destiny. Also, it's one of the free times that Hollywood is showing Black people in a prosperous situation. For once a place on Africa isn't reduced to being a desolate area where people are starving and constant struggle. This was my parents Black Panther! Also McDowell's being a black owned is great too. I would submit that for whatever reason, we as black people have the intrinsic need too see things by us as lesser in value. So Long Beach and Khleo's indifference to the film bothered me. They have the right to their opinion, but they clearly missed the point, especially since they've never seen it. The reason why it carries weight is simply because it's a good time. I would say watch it for yourself, and try to remove the pressures and preconceived notions placed from other black people about it. I would hippie you'd at lest understand why it holds significance even of it's not your favorite film. Otherwise this show is still fire!
