There are so, so, *so* many hints throughout S1 towards Garnet being a fusion. There is a split second moment in Fusion Cuisine (where you meet Alexandrite) where you can actually see Garnet's form forming out of two other forms grabbing each other's hands foreshadowing both Ruby and Sapphire. And in Alone Together, when Pearl and Amethyst go "fusion is hard even for us" Garnet is all like "Not for me!" and other such moments. Can't wait for your S2 reactions

Yeah, but they're only super noticeable in hindsight. I don't think I know anyone who called it ahead of time but on rewatch it is super obvious. Lol I think that's brilliant. I hope they continue making more Steven.

@@hotarubinariko There were actually a lot of theories when the show first came out because Garnet is the only one in the group with two gems. Though a lot of the theories were that Garnet was some kind of forced permanent fusion because of some kind of accident.

@@spookycircuits455 Gotcha! I was late to the Steven party so I didn't see the theories and stuff until after I already found out since I binged the first season. I think if you aren't familiar with the community and aren't reading too much into it, it's pretty easy to miss. If there were time between episodes it makes sense people would have taken the time to theorize. Through truthfully I think it's so much better and hits harder if you didn't see it coming. Jailbreak had me weeping the first time I saw it. It really moved me.

I think the reason it's not super noticeable if you binge it (rather than getting it piecemeal over an extended period of time) is because of the order you get information in. You see Garnet has two Gems literally in the first episode but that doesn't feel super significant yet as you know nothing about this world at that point. - Like, you basically get the hint too early. And that remains true with most other hints too. The Fusion Cuisine hint is very strong but also very difficult to notice. But people have found and contemplated all those hints at first and the hilarious thing is they still argued over it even though, when you lay it all out, it was *super* obvious. The theory had lots of nay-sayers until the moment the fusion happened.

@@RainyStast why do people say that though is my question? I thoroughly enjoyed the latter seasons. Steven universs future made me emotional. I can get how the tones shifts but it shifts gradually. Ive watched critiques on the show but they all seem pretty disingenuous. Like it had issues but none to warrant garbage of trash. I cant see when people say the writing is bad, or the story is horrible. Though not perfect i cant call any part of this series trash or even bad.

Its not trash in the laters seasons lol people just said that because of the rant videos about the show at that time. I loved seasons 4 and 5, the movie and future as well. Many jumped on the bandwagon of su hate because its ok but objectively speaking its a great show. Its funny that those complaints from 3 years ago were really just biased people looking to shit on the show for views. Its a great show and don't let others tell you otherwise.

You’re totally right. Pearl was romantically in love with Rose. I think the best confirmation was the visuals in the song Happily Ever After: Pearl is always looking so alight with happiness in her flashbacks but all of that disappears when she’s looking at Rose’s heavily pregnant belly knowing that she’ll lose the love of her life. Her face also takes on an ashen and far off look when she sings “after love and loss and all the tears that I cried”. There’s also an amazing episode later when Pearl decides to get back on the wagon. I won’t spoil anything more but it works great!

@@buniboi2163 lol, basically from here it becomes extremely character driven. You get a ton of back story and context and you get to see each character work through trauma. It's a really really good show that handles a lot of very real and very dark feelings and situations very well. I full intend to share this show with future kids. But that's why the ho boy. Edit: at least that's what I interpreted them to mean. 👍

This reaction caught me off guard just because I've forgotten how exciting is it to watch Steven Universe for the first time. And the best part is that the show is over so many people are talking about things like the first season, so Matthew didn't have from where to spoil to himself things like Garnet being a fusion except if he didn't search it on the internet. I can't wait to see him react to season 2. I think some of the best/most important episodes are: The Answer, Sworn To The Sword, We Need To Talk, Message Received & Log Date 7 15 2. My personal favorites are: Full Disclosure, Sworn To The Sword, Keystone Motel, Sadie's Song, When It Rains & Message Received. I just love the episodes that include a song which means I'm counting It Could've Been Great too

looking back when i first watched the episode "roses scabbard" i thought pearl was being overdramatic but now having watched the whole show and having the information about their relationship that I now do, I can find her actions in the episode a bit more understandable... but she was still very much in the wrong to say what she said. just i can see why now.

Season 1 Pearl’s behavior will be explained in later seasons. I always love watching people react to SU! Brings back memories of my own feelings, reactions and theories! Edit: episodes I think you should record reactions are: Keeping it Together, We Need to Talk, The Answer (BIG background episode for a character), Message Received. I think these episodes are a must for season 2 but that’s just my opinion :)

OF COURSE we want to watch you react to season 2. A few essential inner episodes include: Sworn to the Sword, the mid season finale episodes Keeping it Together and We Need to Talk, Keystone Motel is one of my all time favs, but Onion Friend will likely be one of your all time favs, Nightmare Hospital has some good shock value, Catch and Release is peak Peridot, and The Answer is some very good backstory.

There are a lot and then a lot more coming up in s3 that I know most people would find great to see recorded. You could also just have a base recording as you go (just in case) if you wanted to look back later. If it's not really interesting in your opinion you can always scrap the footage but that way if you DO have it you can use it - if not - well it's there! Hope you enjoy the next season, and thanks for doing reactions to these! Copyright is brutal on this series (especially the songs) as you know, but I'm really glad to see these.

Fusions are usually done by same type gems. Home world looks down on different gem fusions. Fusions pick names based off what they seem to look like or feel like. Ruby n Sapphire make garnet, n they aren’t that far off, they look like homeworld garnets, just different colors and having a 3rd eye which regular garnets dont have. Garnets are also in a way nobility, they would take offense to our Garnet taking their name xD

Season 2 is weird because it feels like half a season. I assume it's because they intended for seasons 2 and 3 to be a single season, but instead cut it in half. Trust me, dude. Much as it comes off as overreacting, Pearl truly did know secrets about Rose neither Amythist or Garnett could possibly know, secrets that tear her up for the next 4 seasons because she can't tell them to anyone. She can't even talk to herself outloud about it. And, if you think this is dark, just wait til later seasons and the truth about the monsters Steven and the Gems have been fighting all this time.

Pearl do love Rose romantically but Rose does not feel the same way for her, Pearl was always jealous of Greg because he's just a mere human and she was the one who was by her side all along. Literally everything that Pearl did in her whole life was for Rose, and now she's gone without even loving her back like Pearl always wanted. She thinks that Greg was an obstacle in the way of their relationship and that's why she didn't like him (on the first seasons). -sorry if my english is bad ;-;-
