From experience living in my cold draughty house..not below zero but can be down to 5 or 7c and with the range Lit I can keep one room up at 12-14c in winter, but you got to wear layers and above all keep your head warm. Wear a hat all the time when you have no heat. Buy 3 hot water bottles, you have a gaz cooker so can boil water. The winter there could get worse and 3 hot water bottles will really warm the bed plus wear a hat again in bed.. actually a tube type scarf stays on your head better overnight. I do all that stuff every winter. And a light puff jacket with hood is super for cold indoors!

First of all I ordered sleeping bag (30-40F comfort). Used it only 3 times, good thing. Headlamp, very useful in the night when you walk through the dark city. I live in maine with a heat pump, that is fairly new 2018. In fact place is all electric. It was a 1970s design.. and is just catching up back to the future now. With the heat pump, any heat source down low rises to the ceiling, and the heat pump recycles it... it is part of their energy rating being so very good. Just turning on your cook stove is a heat source for the heat pump for example.. even a candle lit is another one. At 17F below it does strain, and I lit some candles one day .. could not believe how much that calmed down the mini split. It uses every morsel of heat source to help itself. There are houses of people living in the Donbass who have had no electricity or water or heat since February 25, the day after the SMO. Ukrainian artillery destroyed all infrastructure services. The bastard Ukrainians shell their own countrymen killing hundreds, even thousands over the last 8 years. 3 Days? That's a joke compared to what the Zelensky thugs have done to the Donbass now for years. Maybe it's time the residents who have been going about their lives for these last years without caring for the Donbass are finally getting due payback. This is not propaganda. So sorry about the heat and electric, but at least you have water and internet. On one level Kyiv is the Sarajevo of 2022, though the latter had it much worse. When that city was under siege in the '90s people had to risk their lives dodging Russia-backed Serb snipers to get water. And for heat they rigged connections to the main gas line. But their gas was odorless, hence many died due to lighting candles as they couldn't detect leaks. As for driving in a blackout, Londoners drove with headlights off intentionally in WW2 to hide from Nazi bombers; however this resulted in more deaths from accidents than from the bombings. Anyway hope you recover quick; I recommend Vitamins C, D, echinacea, elderberry syrup, and green tea with Manuka honey. Actually San Fran. is in the 50s F now, but the rest of the US is about to get slammed with the "bomb cyclone". 16:37 280mgs; pretty good! 17:20 The Wall used to be one of my faves too. But be careful, - if your lungs gonna catch cold, - it might be very difficult for you to recover, - cause hospitals will not have everything they need. You really should reconsider filling up the bathtub with water. Because once the water supply stops you not only don’t have water for drinking and cooking but there will also be no flushing the WC. You should not waste your drinking water on flushing. And you don’t want to be not able to flush the toilet, trust me. 🙊

Johnny, there is something called a selk'bag that you can buy on Amazon. Vanlifers who sleep in vans with no heat swear by this You wear it. It comes with a hood and removable booties. It's very warm like a sleeping bag It keeps you toasty warm, indoors and outdoors. Feel better soon!

Maybe you can find it in a sporting goods store there or something similar.

I keep a supply of camping gas canisters. I use them when camping and on road trips, but when I replenish them I make sure I still have a good supply in case of emergencies. I do the same with drinking water bottles and food. In my case it's more for earthquake preparedness. I also have a solar charger for electronics.

Do you have these water bottles to keep you warm? They are fab in cold places with a lack of electricity/heating. You just boil water, fill the bottles, and wrap them into a blanket so things stay warm for hours.

So sorry about Russia's attack on civilians. You are developing a stiff upper lip as us Brits call it. Find ways to cope and carry on. Hot water bottles are a godsend. My grandmother never had central heating as she thought it was bad for you. She went to bed every night with two hot water bottles which she placed in her bed before going to bed. She wore a hat in bed in the very cold weather. You have gas at the moment so you can make hot drinks. Know it is a shock in this modern age but you can find ways to keep comfortable. You are not alone so try and keep positive. Don't let the bastards grind you down.

Buy an electric blanket.. and an electric bedwarmer... at least that way when you have electricity you can wrap up in an electric blankie... and in bed you have like a big blankie warmer for the bed!

An infrared light may help in battling the flu like symptoms. Without AC cannot use it however. Happy Holidays.
