I HAVE SOME SAD NEWS TO SHARE... it gets emotional + a day at Goodwood Races | Scarlet Martin

Aside from a gorgeous day spent at the Goodwood Races, I have some really hard and sad news to share with you. This decision was the hardest decision I have made in my life to date and a week later it has already proven to be the best decision for her; she is totally thriving in her new home with her amazing new family.

I was crying with you while watching this 😭 I can only imagine how heartbreaking it must be having to say goodbye to your friend. And we've watched her grow up and blossom too! But you are doing the right thing which is what's best for you. You've accomplished so much in your life already but it has to go int he direction that makes you most happy so you should not feel guilty about your decision. Oh bless you, Scarlet. I'm crying with you watching this! 😢 Unfortunately, we all have to make big life changing decisions like this about our horses sometimes. We very rarely buy our ponies with the intention of selling them on, but unfortunately, things can change, and life changes very quickly sometimes. But if I could give you any bit of advice, it would be to grab your young life whilst you can and enjoy it to the fullest! So, eight years ago, I literally had it all, I had a great life, I had my horses, I was a groom on competition livery, i went to the gym, I loved seeing friends, I was never in much to be honest until pretty much overnight I became extremely unwell with what was supposed to be routine bloods which turned out to be a living nightmare. From that day, I've been in and out of hospital, I had to have major surgery to remove my kidney but i suffered very bad complications and ive now undergone 20 operations, my mobility is poor, and I now live with chronic pain conditions and bladder problems. I was told I wouldn't ride again, I lost my job, etc. I literally hit rock bottom mentally. I have a very good support network via family and friends 🧡 they are all amazing, and I'd be lost without them all! I'm not ashamed to admit I needed help via a therapist and counselling, and they always asked me what's the one thing you would want back and straight away I said, "My horses" so they told me to do just that and if I wanted it enough I'd make it happen somehow and I did just that and now I have olly my 16 yo new forest gelding and Folly my 11 yo miniture shetland mare and all ill say is "they saved me" and yes okay I cant ride and I have to do things differently to everyone else and I have a lot of help to look after them but they changed my mind set in a instant and I feel like instead of just hospital appointments and operations I now have them in my life and they are such an important part of my new journey and I adore them! They owe me nothing, but i owe them everything. So the reason I'm telling you this story is to show you just how quickly life can change, and yes okay, it's not always bad, but sometimes the very bad can sneak up on you and it sure did that to me. It changed my life forever. I now have another major operation booked for June 24th, which I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for. I just know how tough it can be to bounce back. So you go live your life to the fullest and keep me in mind just why you're doing this! You will miss your baby girl. Of course you will, but you will tell yourself you did the right thing for her and yourself she will have the most lovely life with her new best friend, and you will smile looking at pictures of them both thriving and knowing you did the right thing. Well done for bringing up Truly to be a beautiful gentle pony that will go and help her new young owner to both grow together and learn and flourish as a team. You're doing the right thing! well done for recognising what she really needed 👏🏻 she will be in your heart forever ♥️

I was telling my mother about you yesterday and how you look after so many animals and still manage to work! I completely understand what you are doing and know how hard it must be for you! These decisions are incredibly difficult to make, but necessary to remain in control of what life throws at you, and your work life obviously ramps up at unpredictable times. It's never easy to let go, but sometimes you have to, iv been there myself over the years and your tears set me off 😢😢. Hi Scarlet!! You are so strong! I know it wasn't an easy decision letting Truly go but I promise you it will get easier over time! I so wish I could give you lots of hugs. We understand your feelings. You are such a wonderful caring person. You had every intention to commit your life to Truly but sometimes life and commitments can change. We then have to re evaluate our commitments and lives and come to the best conclusion all round and you have done that.
