My husband, who's not American, got his Green Card from abroad. The whole process took us about a year and cost us about $3500. He had to get a doctor's examination, he had to take vaccines, he had to show that he has to offenses or criminal records, he had to list all his previous employment and places he lived in the last 10 years. Only after he got his Visa, we moved to the US. And to think that in the meantime, the US just opened their borders wide open and let all kinds of people just walk in freely, is just insane.
