I Have to Have Another Surgery: Thyroid Updates, Partial Thyroidectomy, & Genetic Testing Results

I just wanted to say that I know it will all be okay and I was for some reason nervous to share this but I wanted to share as I’ve been very transparent in my journey. Hopefully my experience will help someone else and I am very confident with my surgeon that this surgery is just one last step before my next chapter❤️

Hi dear one! My cancer check up was last Friday…still cancer free….thank God! Considering I have a deadly form of ovarian cancer I am grateful for every day! I go for my cancer genetics testing next Tuesday. Having myasthenia issues as I am having trouble with legs and leg strength. So annoying having a disease which doesn’t make you look sick but can give so much trouble. Good to check in and see you! I am quite a few months off now from chemo and my platelets look better but still low. You are always in my prayers! I will check in soon! Busy with Easter here! Love your positive attitude!

I’m so happy to hear that you are cancer free and staying that way! I can completely relate to the myasthenia troubles, it can get so frustrating at times. Leg weakness has always been my worst symptom. I hope it gets better❤️ I’m also happy that you are keeping busy and I’m sending all the hugs your way!

Becky I'm so sorry you have to go through this. I can understand some... a year after my breast cancer treatment and clear I had a mark on my chest that was found w atypical cells hinting at another cancer- angiosarcoma. So they did a surgery on the area. It ended up having all the markers for it except one important one that determined its status as not cancer which was so good yet so scary and still makes me stressed it could develop into it one day. What can you do though but live your life to the fullest and take care of things as they arrive. Totally stinks and is always a stress to live w cancer scare once you've had it. Cancer club members unite. You will get through this. ❤💜💛

Thank you for sharing that experience with me, it’s such a scary thing and it’s hard to after experiencing cancer not to worry about it coming back or having another type. Also in this situation hearing that it is a rare possibility brings me back to when they took out my tumour and said it would be very rare to be cancer and turned out it was. Thank you for your encouraging words and yes it’s important to live each day and if something else happens deal with it when it happens❤️

I know you are discouraged, but I went through the same thing. I was told they thought it was cancer. I had most of my thyroid removed and it WAS NOT CANCER! That was 30 years ago. I did very well and I believe you will too! Love and hugs coming your way. ❤💜

Wow Becky what a lot you have to process. It’s so unfair that you have to deal with yet another diagnosis, life can be so cruel and unfair but I am sure without a doubt you will deal with this and come out the other side as you always do with so much courage and grace. What a few weeks you have had! That was a great idea to give your uncle his own blender to make his smoothies. I really like the Smash Heart idea and will look at her website. Your hair looks so cute! I couldn’t believe you now have to have thyroid surgery, but once again after processing it and talking to professionals, you are upbeat and ready to take it on. RFA is not an option instead of surgery ? Love your hair style!

They are using the surgery as a diagnostic measure. They weren’t able to determine by biopsy if it is cancer so they will send the lobe with the nodule for testing

when you have thyroid (not sure about partial) removed, you become hypothyroid until a period of time (weeks) that the hormone clears before when you will start thyroid medication.. during this time you feel sluggish and get fluffy. that will resolve once your medication is adjusted and you will be good to go. maybe not wait so close to when school starts in chase you feel crummy. talk with your doctor
