As a mountain biker and Prescott resident this video is uniquely cool. It's awesome to see a pro's perspective of the pro Whiskey race. Going that pace on the loose downhill's is impressive. Especially after not riding it for that long. Well done. Thank you both for coming to race in our town. Hope to see you next year!

Good on ya, Macky! I attempted the 30, but couldn’t finish after 24. So blown up from the diabolical terrain and the constant climbing that I didn’t feel safe on the descent. More hill training for me before I go back!

well..we all want to win everything we face through our days. Rather a bike race or just winning at our employment in some way be it a raise promotion etc..Sometimes it works out.Sometimes it dont. As for you guys,this sport is rough. You age. you get injured. You have setbacks. Things happen. Time moves on. Sometimes we can catch a glimpse of that former glory and sometimes..well..again...time catches up. You did well Macky. Try not to think about it too much. It will ruin your fun. Just go with the flow and keep being AWESOME! You have a good team behind you "SYD,Mom,Dad,InLaws"and also a good family that gets out there and showing the world life isnt over after 50..

Daaaang! Look! Great job. It seems like a course that'll keep you very honest. It seems to be an XC race, but with lots of techy bits/chunks so it's not like a gravel/ road race. What's amazing to me is where you finished- 28th. Okay. You've been better, but you had a different body then, that was ready for this level at this speed. I think you did great for your level of fitness. Really good job, Mack! Syd, keep fighting for it. Stress is interesting. The right amount at the right time can yield tremendous results. However, too much at the wrong time and it's a recipe for disaster. Good decision. Knowing when to hold back is just as important as knowing when to hit the gas. Thanks, as always!!

Maybe a better strategy for the crit is to use the fattest DH tires that will fit, so when there is a crash (and there is always a crash) you just roll up and over (politely of course) without missing a pedal stroke.

@sydandmacky2 жыл бұрын
I have a lot of experience riding through cramps. It's not fun, but can often be done. Coach Mike recommends punching them as that often helps them release (I think the idea there is up sorta surprise the muscle since it isn't actually a lack of salt that causes the cramp, same idea with pickle juice, it's the surprise/taste, not the salt that helps).
