I saw an interview of Japanese people once, apparently it's common for lovers to not messaging each other everyday, therefore friends do rarely messaging each other (perhaps every other day).. seems like they only contact one another if there are something important to talk about..? And to meet, they usually make some schedule or some kind.. That's why when people separated, it usually will be the end of the relationship? I'm not sure tho, I only hear it once in an interview, it shouldn't reflect all Japanese people..

In the manga, Kohei didn't contact Taichi for six months because he didn't want to bother him. It's the same for Taichi.

I think the answer to your question might be in the scene where Taichi first discussed the matter of his dropping out with Kouhei back in Episode 10. When Kouhei asked Taichi if he finally found out what he wanted to do and Taichi confirmed it, I think Kouhei felt as if he was getting on his way. Considering how he felt for Taichi and how he believed it to be an unrequited love, he thought that the only matter connecting them together and bounding Taichi to the university was his note-taking sessions for Kouhei. So with having all that in mind, he decided that keeping in touch with Taichi would be nothing but a burden. As for Taichi, I think back then he kind of expected a rather different reaction from Kouhei, one in which Taichi could sense the fear of loneliness and dependence just the way he himself also had in mind. Then Kouhei went on and said he would be fine without Taichi (which we all know were empty words just to reassure him), and that brought Taichi to this conclusion that he was (as he said) ‘interfering in his life‘ and that Kouhei found someone (being Maya) that would understand him way better than he ever could, so leaving and not turning back was the only option to him. As if he found the purpose of what he wanted to do for the rest of his life throughout meeting Kouhei, when to Kouhei he was gradually being replaced by Maya, or so I think Taichi’s headspace was. I hope it explains how none of them found the courage and the proper excuse to take e step towards the other one.

At the end of the last episode, Taichi can understand the signing of his name but then Kohei adds a sign, finger and thumb either side of his face and drawing them down. Taichi says he wishes he had known the meaning of that. Does anyone know what that sign means?

It should be pretty obvious from Ep11 that there's nothing romantic going on between Kohei and Maya, since she calls him her comrade/friend in the flashback of their first meeting.

I'm a little disappointed in the series. In episode 11, half the time was about Maya. The couple themselves get little story time. I don't understand because there is still so much to tell about them. Are they going to do this in episode 12 and finish everything in 5 minutes? I hope not because I like them so much.

😢 I liked the plot and script until the last episodes. I got the impression that the story was truncated because the actors weren't comfortable with French kisses. The ending disappointed. It's not a series that encourages me to watch a second time and I wouldn't be tempted to watch a possible second season because of the bad taste it left.
