I was born in Chennai and raised in a village during my teenage years. From observing village life, I noticed several concerning aspects. In our village, there is a very ancient Shiva temple that still enforces a discriminatory practice of prohibiting lower caste individuals from entering its premises. Additionally, the street names subtly reflect casteism, perpetuating social divisions. Even in school, I encountered teachers who displayed bias and favoritism based on caste, which indirectly impacted my studies. These experiences exposed me to a multitude of issues, such as favoritism, partiality, and other forms of discrimination. I will never forget one incident when one of my schoolmates asked me if I belonged to an upper class, assuming so until the end of our school years. He only discovered the truth when he saw my scholarship form and noticed my caste. He exclaimed, "You do not look like someone from that caste!" 🥶 Edit: I am truly proud that my parents never taught me to discriminate based on caste or religion when it comes to my friends & Love. They always encouraged me to be myself and believe in the equality of all individuals. As a result, I continue to visit temples and masjids without any hesitation. I have been fortunate to have many wonderful friends who genuinely care about me and never inquire about my caste or religion. Their acceptance and support mean a lot to me. ❣️ Btw I'm a GenZ kid not a brat😅
