It's highly unlikely we'll ever get a game like DJ Hero (or Fuser) ever again, but it's not for the reason you think. You see, we all know the music industry is trash, but it's even worse than we think. Aside from licensing, DJ Hero requires something more important: Stems. Music isn't recorded in one go, they record each individal segment separately then edit them together into a final gold copy. Drums, then guitar, then brass, then vocals. These individual files are called stems, the individual bits of a song isolated in raw form. The problem stems (pun intended) from the fact recording labels are for some reason highly protective of the stem files, which Harmonix needs to create these great mashups. Unfortunately they can't just buy the rights to a song, they have to also request the use of stems too, and if they get approval stem files cost even more than licensing to get. No stems, no mixes for DJ Hero. So unless a major shift in the music industry happens, we're not gonna get another game like DJ Hero because the stem files are just way too expensive. Shame we never got DJ Hero 3D. I would've loved to play it.

@@DrAnimePhD a lot of kids who played this game discovered a lot of music they would've never searched for out of their own volition, and they play those songs, myself included, on their streaming lists, to this day, no matter what platform they use. I get your point, but seeing how easy it is to sample stems with the technology available nowadays, as in you no longer need the original recordings to get clear sounding isolated stems, seems far fetched this is the major reason a DJ Hero 3 isn't in the works.
