When I see something I want, I add it to a wishlist and I ask myself what it would add and what is the makeup question it’s answering for me. And is anything else in my collection able to answer that same question for me. Emphasis on question/task and not need because few items feel like a need.

YES ABOUT THE GOLDS. I'm still tired. but also I did this unintentionally and it is still kinda eye opening. I put most of my palettes in a box to move almost three months ago and I haven't taken them out (laziness and limited storage). I've been getting by primarily with blend bunny palettes and indie singles. I still feel like it'll be hard to let palettes go once they're actually in my hands again but tbd I'm not 100% confident but I'd check emme cosmetics for the lavender taupey shade.

Emme cosmetics City Night Sky swatches look similar to that PMG shade. I have their singles Lotus and Silver Lining. I think they’re cooler toned in person than the website swatches (based on iPhone) and for that reason I don’t really use them so I suspect City Night Sky would be too. Alternatively I would suggest mixing a light shimmer lavender shimmer with a dull silver/pewter or satin charcoal to get a similar outcome.

My makeup journey has taken me to Channel, YSL, Dior, Tom Ford and Hourglass. I have felt very guilty for enjoying products from these brands because I have allowed the dupe videos to get in my head. I feel even worse when I buy less expensive makeup and then leave it sit unused because I do not like it. I have reached the realization I enjoy the luxury makeup, the packaging and the experience and that is okay. This year I bought fewer items but spent about the same as last year. The difference is last year’s items are rarely used. I found your channel last month and really enjoy you and your content 💕

As far as that taupe you point out, it reminds me of MAC Moth Brown (le and long gone) and Urban Decay Mushroom or Bust. I feel like Sydney Grace may have a few I don't have yet like Frosted Morning or Somber, plus a few newer ones I don't remember the names of! Hope this helps at least a little!

That taupe grey lavender shade reminds me of Kosmiczna Pieczarka from Glamshop. I don‘t have it but it has been in brand‘s portfolio since the very beginning and used to be a bestseller. ... You may have just convinced me to declutter my Mini Retro. I LOVE that ONE SHADE, but I just cannot get down with the rest of the palette. I hate those weird muted greens (which I heard you love, you do you, not here to yuck your yum) because they look SO BAD on me, so I usually only use the matte pinky beige color and the shiny one. I dunno. I might try to pan that shade, or those two shades and then declutter it, but I've never panned an eyeshadow like that before. I've only really panned shades organically before, but I feel like I should maybe try to do that.

That new HUDA palette looks like it has a lot of those tones. My only issue is that they called it grunge and not grungy. Grungy id buy. Washed out dingy taupes grays and lavenders are absolutely represented in that palette. It’s gorgeous. I’m a former grunge rock chick and it absolutely grinds my gears that she called it grunge because we did NOT wear our makeup like that. It’s s silly minor gripe but I can’t get past it. 😆

Most McGrath palettes are great. The beauty of getting into them now is you have all in front of you to compare and just pick one or two (or whatever amount). You can look at all the reviews. You'll have less chance of overspending, and yes -- those discounts are sweet!
