I'd argue that Coast FIRE is NOT a level of FIRE--it's an approach. You can Coast toward Lean, Traditional, or Fat Fire, the numbers just change.

Great video. Sadly i was blacklisted in a union buating layoff. Couldn't find any work ti 2 yrs later. Had to live off my invesments and liquidate it. I had to start all over again. I am doing fine now. I 'll be 51 yrs old this May so i have 16 yrs left til age 67 if i make it there.

Love it, for me personally hitting my coast fire number was just really cool to tgink you know what i can quit this high stress corporate rat race and at least find something part time in the rat race world or full time in another industry doing something i love (which often means huge paycut) but be comfortable with a large paycut its not screw you money but its next best thing lol 😂

I don't think that rate of return makes sense. If you thought the stock market was only going to return 3% more than inflation going forward, then a 4% safe withdrawal rate in retirement would no longer make sense. The real (inflation adjusted) rate of return when coasting should be higher than the safe withdrawal rate because there are not sequence of returns risks when coasting since you don't withdraw money like you do during retirement. From the simulations I've seen a 5-5.5% real (inflation adjusted) rate of return is about the same safety factor as a 4% safe withdrawal rate if you have a few decades to coast.
