Sue, I was at Joann's today (Saturday, 2/1) and asked the cashier about the gift card situation. She said there were problems yesterday (1/31) with taking gift cards but that it has been resolved. She said they would continue taking gift cards. So hopefully you and others will be able to use them.

Hey! Don’t let them rip you off! Get a lawyer or talk to someone at the police station. I’d call the JoAnn’s and talk to the manager or maybe just go straight to the JoAnn’s headquarters and talk to the head person there and tell them what you experienced and say that you’ll have to sue them if they don’t either, reimburse you or honor their gift card because the card’s been paid for and you don’t want to be ripped off! That’s what I’d do. DON’T LET THEM RIP YOU OFF!!!

Yep, there've been gift card scam complaints at Wally world stores too...people buying their store gift cards and someone ( most likely someone on the inside) was stealing the money off of them as soon as the cards were loaded. And afterwards investigated by purchaser this theft happened to, the store was made aware of the theft and they did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to help the purchaser of the gift cards...BIG RIP OFF SCAM!!!

It isn't odd. They filed for bankruptcy. They can't actually accept them anymore. We had this same issue when bed bath and beyond filed. You have to file a claim for reimbursement of the gift cards in the bankruptcy lawsuit. That's how it works. The employees are not going to know much more than the customers.

Hello everybody, and sad to say that yes, it now seems to be inevitable that we are losing Joann stores. Their last bankruptcy filing has only brought one interested bidder to the party, Gordon Brothers, and they are known for closing down stores after liquidating all assets, in fact, they are currently in the process of closing down all Big Lots stores. So, unless another party interested in saving Joann stores enters their interest in bidding, they will be gone by Spring of this year. I believe Feb 12 is the last day the judge is accepting bidders. So sad, after over 80 years, they will be no more 😢. So, best to stock up on your supplies now. Once Gordon Brothers take over, they will also stop accepting coupons.

When I worked as a merchandiser, when there was fraud that would happen. It sounds like to me there is a lot of fraud with the gift cards. Holy cow you have a lot of yarn. I am sorry you had such a hard time with this whole thing. How frustrating! I heard they were struggling. I hope they can turn it around. If they don’t accept the cards I can see a class action suit. That is like the store is stealing from people!!!

Oh Sue! I'm so sorry to hear that. I called the Joann's in our city and was told they can "try" to take them, but they're having at least 3 a day not going through. She actually told me to call corporate. I told her I just wanted to know if they were accepting them. She repeated what she said in the beginning. She was reluctant to say yes, definitely. I called my friend who has over $100 in gift cards. I hope she can use them. We're in CA, so it seems it's everywhere.😞 I have Michael's and Hobby Lobby, but sure liked the selection options at Joann's. That's so sad! Tfs ❤

I asked one of the girls there if they were going out of business because their lace section looked so empty. They said they have a lot of boxes they haven’t gotten to because they don’t have enough help and enough hours. Each person is part time and may only get 10 hours a week. I was going to order my lace on their online store and now it’s showing out of stock online. I have a feeling they are unfortunately going out of business. So sad for all of us. 😂

Last weekend I went to my local store and the vibe was definitely sad. But when I asked the cashier to price check a couple items, the prices didn't match the signage or the prices listed on the app. Which is why I was checking! I wanted to verify which prices were right. That was a red flag moment for me. Went home and placed my order online. Today I returned to the store to get something else and ended up getting a few extras. My receipt was very confusing. Had to do the math in my car to make sure I wasn't over charged.

My Joann’s closed January 19th and has been in our community for 40+ years!!! I’m much older and remember going there as a child!!! It’s so sad!!! I just placed what could possibly be my last order!!! Their online shopping experience has never been very good. Probably one reason they're going bankrupt. Not accepting gift cards is unethical and criminal. You should call the home office in Hudson, OH. If they don't honor the gift cards, you could also report them to the Ohio Attorney General. The problem could be that because of the bankruptcy, you may never see that money. I worked for a company that declared bankruptcy and never got paid for 4 weeks of work and 2 weeks of PTO. It's sad.

That's crazy that they aren't honouring gift cards. But it's good if they doubled up with your order pickup because maybe it'll even out the loss of the gift card. You'll get through all the excess yarn and those dappled cakes are amazing, I love every one I've purchased and people just love the look and feel of anything I make with it, the green goes well in the larger sea turtles they are just snapped of the shelf

It isn't theft. They filed for bankruptcy. The same thing happened to us when bed bath and beyond filed. We had gotten a bunch of gift cards as wedding gifts. When they filed for bankruptcy they could no longer accept or sell them regardless of when they are purchased. Unfortunately that's just how it is. I'm not sure if you can do it in this case but with the bed bath and beyond bankruptcy we were made to file a claim as part of the bankruptcy case to try to get paid out when the court case has finished. It hasn't yet. But if you can figure out where to go you can probably file a claim with them for it. But I wouldn't expect to see a result for years. For us for the bed bath and beyond fiasco we have been waiting for three years and counting for new information.

I’m in California and since November they stopped selling gift cards which I thought was weird. They have cancelled my last two recent online orders saying it is not in the store. Go back on the website and it says they have the products in the store. Also I have gotten regular text messages 2 or 3 times a week. Last 2 weeks I have gotten NONE!! That gift card issue should be a class action lawsuit for all who have gift cards. At least for cards bought in 2024-25! I feel so sorry for the employees. Hate to see Big Twist go! Crafters are resilient! We will find a new and better yarn once they are gone!!!

Call the customer service number.. It might take 10 minutes or more that you are on hold, but they have always been helpful. Have your gift card when you call so you can give them the card details.

In November I placed two pick up in store orders, one a crochet hook. When I went to pick them they gave me the first order. I insisted I had another order. They could not find it. I told them I got a ready to pick up. It took a while but they finally found it. Then in January I placed an order to be delivered to my house. I got an text and email saying it had be delivered. When I went outside to get it, I couldn't find it. I checked the photo confirmation and it was delivered to the wrong house. I contacted FedEx but no reply. I contacted JoAnns and they credited me for the yarn I didn't get. While they still had the yarn on sale I reordered it. This time I got delivered to my house.

Gift cards are purchased with the best intentions but when this happens it's a disgrace. As long as the store is opened they owe to clients to honour the gift cards. As for the second order as long as they don't charge you enjoy it after all they have no concious in not honouring their own gift cards. Lesson cash is king & we should not feel bad in giving cash.
