Don't feel bad, KG. Every hunter has been down this same road before. I hate having one get away from me too. I never stop learning. I have learned one thing, it always seems that the harder that you try, the more difficult and winless that it becomes. That goes for more than just hunting. I've been bested many times by a kid or a beginner that had better dumb luck than I had. I have had to hunt where there was so much competition that I was lucky just to get a doe, much less a buck and rarely ever a chance at a trophy buck. But when I did get a trophy buck after 18 years of trying so hard, it was the easiest and best shot and kill that I had ever done. Go figure? It was just meant to be at that time. Your day will come. Just keep at it and don't beat yourself up. I go out there with the attitude that I don't care if I see anything or not and just enjoy watching the day go by in the woods. Then the opportunities just seem to come so much easier.

Hell yeah brother! I've always wanted to get a closer buck but never been able to that late in the season. Good persistence. One thing i will say is target shooting from a treestand (especially those close tight shots) has made a huge difference for me.

Never be sorry! Look at it this way I am 41 started hunting when I was 12 around 20 I had to stop for health reasons. Finally after so many years I got to go out this season and killed a button buck!. He wasn't large but he was big enough for me and yes I mounted his Nubbies because he was my trophy and a goal I always wanted to finish! It doesn't matter how big they are what matters is the work you put in it and enjoying your time ou in the woods! Your useing the meat your learning every season and your having fun!! The deer does not matter. Bucks are just antlers. As time goes by, more and more will be learned. Just be happy with the meat. It’s so hard to think of everything when you have been sitting and hunting so long with no success then in a flash a deer right next to you. No person can think of everything at that time. The important thing is that you got a deer (buck with bow). Next year do it all over again. Next time the deer sneak up to you, a flashback will happen. Mistakes could still be made BUT you will learn. I’m 52 yr old. I make mistakes. This year I was hunting out of a blind during rifle season in KY. I thought I had barrel of rifle out of blind but I did not. I tore my blind up. Every year something always happen. It will happen KG and when it does, you might even forget to film. Even the, mistake made. Happy Hunting brother. We all are in same BOAT.

Bro my dad and I used to take lunch breaks during bow season like you do, one time we had our stands about 150 yards away in some pretty thick pines and hardwoods. We got down for lunchtime and came back bout an hour later and directly between our stands a big buck had came in and made a huge scrape on a 3in round pine and shredded it about a good 3ft section. Ever since we packed our lunch and brought it with us in the stand. Awesome hunts man love your videos 🤙🏻

If you don’t very good deer around you then I’m perfectly fine with you shooting spikes, but he has pretty decent deer to shoot.
