I am sorry about your uncle. Health Care and Education, the two most expensive necessities in this country. Nice bike. Best of luck with it. I understand the sentimental value. My father passed away in 2020 and I still have his two last vehicles he owned as memories of him. Winter is not my favorite season too.

The clutch slip might be the oil. A lot of older bikes with a wet clutch develop clutch slip when you put semi or fully synthetic oil in.

A dear friend of mine bought a V65 Magna back in 1982. That bike was great!
@jfv65Күн бұрын
I prefer the V65 Sabre, it's more touring oriented with shaft drive. It's almost as fast as a 1st gen Vmax.
@jimcabezola3051Күн бұрын
@@jfv65 Yes. The V65 was the first shaft drive machine I ever road. The speed of that machine far exceeded my skills...so I rode slowly and easily. Such a beautiful, 42-year-old memory.

I love V4 power delivery. I had a 80's VF1000F Interceptor and a VF1100S Sabre, they were great bike. Carbs could be fussy.

17:40 Jake, whatever mic you are using on this helmut narration, it sounds the best in this video!! no fry, no wind.. almost sounds like a voice-over! [btw: they DO make front peg relocation kits... think reverse forward controls] corn kills all it flows thru...

Cable clutches still have their place and often come on high end motorcycles where one of two things are needed: More "feel" is wanted...applies more to off-road riding where feathering the clutch is common thing. Packaging concerns as the leverage arm can be put almost anywhere and take almost any shape from rotary to vertical to under the engine horizontal, etc. If that modern Magna has carb drain screw...consider taking the frustration and use them. The most hateful carbs to dismount and mount were the Yamaha Venture, followed by the VF500, and then the V65 Magna...and I here that vintage used the same system where remounting the carbs is an exercise in having five baby hands, two with Hulk strength, and the patience of Job. I did maybe 70 racks of carbs back in college for beer money and V4's got a $50 mark-up (in 1993) one a $75-100 plus parts job right off the bat.

I'm in quite the same situation as you. My father passed away recently and I'm inheriting his 95 Magna. I've actually been riding it for the past 2 years now. Unfortunately it has a bad cylinder and burns oil. I have a stock magna engine, and a vfr engine to do a vfr swap on the old girl. Weirdly enough my turn signal is smooth and perfect. Never had an issue with it after I cleaned it up and lubed it up.

Ya I feel the same with sitting style. Sport bike can go many hours of fun. Cruiser not long before my back kills me. Also a good windshield is hard to find for naked bikes that look good for cheaper. But any shield is better then rock

Check that plastic chain guard over the rear sprocket so it doesn’t rub or get chewed up? Really great motorcycle, and great video!❤

I've owned a dozen+ Harleys (mostly Heritage Springers), but my last 2 Hondas were both Magnas. Mine were the 1987 and 1988, designed by Arlen Ness. I LOVED that bike!! Hope yours treats you as well as mine, Jake.

My dad had a 90's Magna for a long time, I even found a Christmas card with one on it with the exact same color scheme. It was a special bike. I learned how to be a passenger on it when I was still small enough to fit. His last bike before he passed away was a Valkyrie, and I got lucky enough to buy it from my step mom. It sat for a few years first though, so I don't know when I'll be able to ride it.

Yeah it's really hard to get a small to mid size cruiser right now. Kawasaki just came out with the Eliminator which is kinda cruiser-ish but the MSRP on it is hilarious. I see them popping up for like 4k because nobody's buying them.

Great bikes, I own a '95 myself and love it. These last-gen Magnas are by far the best looking and most styled iterations, though I do want to try one of the 80s V65, 1100cc ones at some point because, while ugly, they're better on paper in almost every way (power, tank size, centre stand, 6-speed, shaft drive, etc). It's a complete pita getting parts for a Magna over here in the UK though, like my third gen is one of about fifty left on the roads here. I don't see myself getting rid any time soon though.
@100PercentJakeКүн бұрын
The big weakness on the V65s is they tend to shell 2nd gear, which is very unfortuante.

Love 'muscle bikes' and V4's. My first bike was a V65 Magna (stupid move, really happy I didn't kill myself on it) and moved on to a first gen Vmax years later. Wish I still had them both.
