Your issue with the pipe sizes was due to going to 2.75 adapter. If you got a connecter specifically for 2.5 outside dimension pipe (which the existing exhaust pipe and outlet on muffler is) it would have snugged right up.

@AndrewDoesLife5 жыл бұрын
Yeah my only reason for not going with the straight pipe on my truck was that I didn't want any loud noise in the cabin from the drone of the pipes. The 40 makes an incredible sound without any nasty drone noise in the cabin of the truck! Great product!!!!
@lvlndco5 жыл бұрын
You will need to get some more pipe to get it routed out the side but need to do that ASAP. The exhaust blowing on the tire will likely either cause a blowout or other damage as that is a lot of heat. The new muffler sounds good. I think the pipe fittings they sold you are for welded connections but those cuts look like a good work around so you didn't have to go searching for more parts.
@AndrewDoesLife5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Jeff, don’t worry, the flexible exhaust pipe is on its way it just hasn’t arrived yet. Once I get it the exhaust tip will stick out to the side still but will not be anywhere near the tire, the set up I have is just a place holder for now. I am in love with the way this muffler sounds. It’s so crazy that there’s little sound at all in the cabin but with the windows rolled down it sounds low and mean hah

Ran my 05 straight piped like that for a year or two wasn’t really that bad honestly. It’s much louder now with long tube headers, no cats and a “muffler” which is straight through flow. Your problem with the 2.5 inch adapter would be you didn’t get 2.5 inch ID (inside diameter) which is meant to fit over 2.5 inch OD (outside diameter). only if it is for 2 1/2 inside diameter there are two different types if it is 2 1/2 in outside diameter it is the exact same size if it says outside diameter it slides over the pipe if you are not a good mechanic you should not work on cars a parts changer is not a mechanic you need to know what things are why and what it affects not just cut the pipe put a cold air intake and because it sounds good you have more horsepower learn before you tear up a good car or truck

There are many different connectors out there, you got the wrong one. That is why you had trouble. You shouldn't have to modify the connector with those slots, if you got the right one it would have slipped on. I just had to replace one of my clamps I went to the AutoZone to get the pipe clamp. You definitely need a 2.5 " clamp. They should be labeled with the diameter and an id or od after it. I prefer the flat connectors that have the clamp built-in like the one you showed at the beginning. They conform to the contours and get a better seal. It's also better because you get on either side of the joint, on both pipes. Walker makes a good one, it's called the mega clamp and it is slightly tapered so that tighter fit around the smaller pipe. They are made specifically made for an outside to inside diameter joint so they really work well in my opinion, definitely prefer them over u-bolt style. When I did mine I opted for a cat back system so I replaced the muffler as part of that. Very happy with the results and it's been very durable too.

But if I was to get this muffler and install it without doing anything else to it, would i get that same sound?
@AndrewDoesLife4 жыл бұрын
Jake DiLonardo if you have the same engine as me, yes you should get the same sound. Most V8s should sound really good with this muffler so if you have a Chevy or a Toyota truck with a V8 it won’t sound exactly the same but it will sound good

Why does your truck make those popping sounds?

Most vehicles do that especially without a muffler

Joseph Darger Jr is it a 5.4 triton?
@josephdargerjr97665 жыл бұрын
Yes it is
@AndrewDoesLife5 жыл бұрын
Could be a timing chain issue due to a sub par oil pump. Pretty common with these trucks and that engine

doesn't this heat up the right rear tire excessively , brake lines and fluid , rubber , ??...have ya had any problems with blowouts and longer drives ?
@AndrewDoesLife4 жыл бұрын
Hey Matthew, I had the same thought and rerouted the pipe to where the outlet was nor directly facing this tire area. I did take a 6 hour with this set up with no issues too.

I put a Flowmaster super 10, one muffler 2 in 2 out.... on my 2005 F150 4.6, sounds awesome...
@AndrewDoesLife5 жыл бұрын
That’s awesome! I was a little nervous to use the flow master 10 since it was advertised as having such a crazy aggressive sound to it.

When the 2.5 exhaust pipe wouldn't go over the 2.5 inch muffler. You could've used a butt joint clamp.
@AndrewDoesLife4 жыл бұрын
I think that would have been the easier option to go with. If I had known what I know now going back I'd go with the butt clamp for sure

Man I love your channel! Just found it as I just upgraded from a ranger to my 06 f150! So stoked that theres a decent channel to learn how to do some mods to my exact truck on youtube. Any chance you can show a demonstration of the GOTTS mod?
@AndrewDoesLife5 жыл бұрын
What’s up my man Nicholas!!! Welcome to the channel! I’m familiar with the GOTTS mod and how to do it, but I doubt I’ll be doing that to my truck. I already tried installing a cold air intake on my truck and I didn’t like the outcome so I went back to the stock intake. I’m nervous about changing the intake system from the stock without adding a tune to compensate for the difference in air intake

Hey bud Just put a straight pipe piece inplace of muffler sounds alot better. And not to loud
@AndrewDoesLife5 жыл бұрын
I was actually surprised that the straight pipe sounded as good as it did haha but I need it to be quite in the cab of the truck when I'm driving around. Straight pipes would be so annoying for me when I take those long drives
@bobr72065 жыл бұрын
Suprisingly there not bad in cab. I initially just remove the muffler and put a single piece of straight pipe in drove with it like that for a while and really you don't hear that in the cab at all. Then I took it to the muffler shop and had it true dual straight pipe straight from each cat back and i love it. These trucks are pretty well built so no droning or anything. I like mine loud and proud ! But sounded good keep the vids comin

O6? Man gotta have 200k+ miles- I’d be more concerned with all that standing water by the house- most likely a drainage problem related to an improper land grade. Reposition the dirt to get the proper run off or bring in a mid size ballast to assist in a timely absorption rate.
