I just got a Teal version, so a clear teal would be boss, since I plan on adding a Vaporeon sticker to the back to go with the teal color, and if there is a 3ds translucent Purple, I would jump on it in a heartbeat.

I love the atomic purple see-through look. I had an atomic gbc back in the day. I haven't gotten a lite yet, I'm not crazy on the matt color options. I'm not down for doing these steps myself, but if Nintendo released an Atomic purple switch lite in stores, then I'd have a hard time not adding one to cart.

@@citrusbutter7718 there are etsy shops that sell new systems, and some can just install it for you. This process in the video isn't difficult, you just need to go slow and follow the instruction video from extremerate while you go. I just bought the watermelon red/pink transparent version shell and i'm about to do it myself. Its scary if you haven't done it before, but it really is easy as long as you follow the directions and take your time. I've reshelled 3 pair of joycons and one switch oled, so im getting pretty comfortable with the process now.

Have a local repair shop do it, these are actually fairly standard procedures for phone repair so those people are typically trained on how to do that kind of stuff safely. I have to use heat guns on phones all the time

Upon further reflection, couldn't you use the OG grey shell backing, with the smoke clear top? Since the back doesn't have much to see anyway, couldn't you just use the Nintendo back piece, as then it would accent the bezel and clear grey shell on the front? Then having the official backing piece would make it look even more official.

I've been thinking about getting this brand's smoke black joy-con casing for awhile but keep hesitating wondering "does it really look that different from the standard clear?" Here I can tell that yes, it is different. Combined with the lighting, it almost looks like a dark metallic gray at some angles. Very cool.

I would probably only do a shell swap in the event of my screen breaking to be honest. Like if you cracked your screen you could just buy the LCD and digitizer in the color you want then fit that to the new shell and swap your other parts over. Would make more sense for me than potentially damaging the screen while removing it from the old shell.

Ifixit has a great tool kit. I use theirs when I did my reshell. I also used their anti static organizer to keep my screws together. Not sponsored but their stuff works and it’s also magnetic so the screws don’t get lost (because they are tiny!)

Just buy a grey digitizer it you have another switch lite colour. They're pretty inexpensive, 10 Bucks I believe

So what did to my switch lite gray is that i bought the ifixit tool and the dark clear case from the same company. i am a little bit uncomfortable with removing the entire switch just for the case and knowing the current situation. I decided to only replace the back case of the switch. So before putting my dark clear case on i added a decal sticker on the Metal shield it look super cool im glad that i went with it. As for the front i ended up using a really cool dark decal from Dbrand with their big option for tempered glass it match really well with the gray bezel. The one downside i have for these clear cases that the SD and Game card slots aren't that great with their quality being really cheap and so i wanted to keep all the original parts from my switch for these slots however the original game card plastic piece does not match the clear case, the case is slightly bigger for the plastic piece to go in. I have heard that not all clear case are the same side so i was lucky that i can screw the back clear case on to my original front case

I think the biggest factor for re-shelling is having the grey Switch Light since the darker bezel would work better with the other colors. Also ngl not digging the 9er's shirt lol

Did this to my own Turquoise switch, but with the smoked shell/housing, i didnt use the screen protector, and i think it looks really unique, even kept some of the turquoise port covers aswell, i wouldnt recommend someone do this unless you take things apart all the time and are really 'tech savy' i can see alot of novices or younger people damaging their switch lites as a result of trying this, especially in regards to the screen and ribbon cables.

I'm planning to get the all clear shell, and keeping all my yellow components within the unit(the grey parts as well), so that way I can just keep the bezel already in place. I actually like the yellow color on it's own, so I figured those accents will make it unique to other units that may do this same case mod. I've done several of these to my DS Lite and PSP back in the day, and nothing was ever to hard, but you do need to be organized and take your time, and you should be OK!

I’m not a mod expert, but when I do even simple phone or switch screen protectors, I like to wear latex gloves to prevent fingerprints. The downside is if the gloves aren’t snug and have some slack, it affects dexterity.

I agree I really don't like their method of just covering up the digitizer with a screen protector, I wish they would just make third party digitizers for the Nintendo switch and switch lite then you could have any color bezel you wanted and possibly even a real glass screen since the switch screen is plastic.

I'd lose the EM shield with the transparent shells. It's there for FCC compliance but the Switch will function fine without it.

@Mike UK 1970, it makes about a 1c-2c difference in the testing that I've seen (and that lines up with my own experience with my original Switch). Outside of extremely hot ambient conditions you're not going to see a noticeable impact to usability. I don't have a Switch Lite to do before and after testing on to verify the temps for this model but maybe John will be kind enough to do some testing on this channel (assuming he hasn't already).

You should do tests to see how necessary that rear metal shield is... aka do temp test on regular switch and lite with and without the metal shield... cause if it doesnt make a meaningful difference it might be worth it to not out the shield on for a transparent case so you could see more of those pretty insides
