I like this guy's style. He's proving to everyone that all of the complainers are just what they are... complainers. I've been going there for years with my two boys and friends. Beautiful spots and shade everywhere. The only place where there isn't shade are designed for large campers and consequently large crowds. No, I won't give away the numbers for the best spots You'll just have to come here and figure it out yourself and then come back again. It's called "paying your dues". By the way, you will get squirrels if you leave stuff out. Yes, if you walk to the beach and leave stuff out, the squirrels will attempt to take whatever they can. But that's pretty camping-101 right there. The people who complain probably don't know how to camp. But to be fair yes if you go camping on the 4th of July weekend, you're going to get some noise, lol. I've had some of the best times here and the beach tunnels that are nearby are great.

I love Leo Carillo. A couple things, tar is naturally occurring on the beaches since the area is oil rich, and the camping ground stores will always be expensive. Just leave the camp and go to a regular chain supermarket down the 1.
@davidbaldwin76846 ай бұрын
As a Santa Barbara beach person I suggest a bottle of baby oil to remove the tar. It works great and fast. Don't put kerosene and lighter fluid on your skin!
@staceywacey19786 ай бұрын
Have none of those reviewers ever been to a SoCal beach? Anywhere there are oil derricks, there is going to be a chance of stepping on tar. A little kerosene (am I dating myself with this one?) or lighter fluid on a rag and it'll be gone. I'm a newer viewer, but I really enjoy your content and I can't wait to see where you go next. :)

Oil derricks doesn’t even matter, except for spills of course. Oil seepage is normal worldwide, and by the time it forms tarballs it’s not super toxic. I wouldn’t eat it as part of a nutritious breakfast every day, however 😅

I’ve stayed there, albeit years ago. I thought it was great. Going to the beach past the bridge, go right for a sandy beach, left for surfing. There has always been tar on SoCal beaches. Oil seeps offshore and floats onshore. It’s natural.

I live here in Malibu, the last few years have turned all the beach towns into homeless encampments. Millions were allowed to enter the USA illegally thanks to Biden/Harris. I Learned my lesson voting blue in the past. Now Harris is saying she’s going to fix things ? What has she or Biden done in 3.5 years …give billions away to other countries and millions to all the illegals that came here. All along the PCH there are homeless people living in tents.

😆 *1? NO WAY, I give this place 5 stars.* I was there in 2024 and it's a fantastic camp site. Close to the beach, beautiful oceanic mural going under the bridge to the coastline, the best two-ply toilet paper I've ever used at a camp site much less any other gov building/etc (I'm not kidding, must be the luxury quality in the gov-supply catalog lol), nice bathrooms and amenities, all the water facets worked, camp rangers were very nice, and I can go on and on. My theory is they keep it super-nice for the camping Malibu folks, but all I can say [again] is the tp 🧻 quality was unreal. hahaha One really interesting thing is we notice a flock of a dozen green tropical birds that live in the area, so that was an unexpected surprise. 🦜 Thanks for your review; enjoyed it. _Keep up the great work and making this content._ ⛺

Ok here's the context and backstory. ANY beach with both camping and a decent surf break is gonna get flooded with locals and mobile surfers claiming it's a cesspool of chit and more chit and one star reviews claiming they'd make it a zero star review if they could. Why? Fight club rules....first rule of fight club... don't talk about fight club. I.E. they are chasing away the amateurs and dabblers and keeping the break uncrowded and for themselves. Now, is this a guarantee of a 5 star experience? Not at all...but anytime you see floods of 1 star reviews with a surf break....you need to dig deeper about the location.

Seriously, they truck that beautiful sand in every year to make them so nice. I also remember a sea cave that is exposed at low tide. 8 year old me was nuts and wanted to see how far back it went. 8 year old me also didn't fully understand what a tide was or how it worked. Getting out was a bit sketch. Great video... first time viewer, new sub!

Showers are free at every campground I've ever stayed at. Most of our campgrounds though don't have a private parking space. It's a misconception that the tar you occasionally pick up with your feet from SoCal beaches is caused by the off-shore oil derricks. The area is full of natural tar pits (ever heard of La Brea tar pits in LA?). Some of that tar naturally seeps from cliff rock faces in some places and from ocean floor rocks. The presence of those tar pits is somewhat correlated to the oil derricks in the sense that the fact that there is oil in the region is causing both the tar seeps and makes it a good place for drilling.

Stayed here for years! Was just there as recently as last month with a large group. Squirrels. Why would you keep your car windows open? Never had a single problem. The beach caves are amazing. You don’t ever go across PCH because there is an underground tunnel. Dog beach one side and tide pools on the other.
