I'm currently in Nursing School, and if ever I am blessed enough to finish it alive, I also dream of being a Military Nurse. It was a dream of my late Aunt whom I never met but I was named after her. Ever since I was little, there has always been a part of me that wants to be in the army. Seeing this vlog was heartwarming. Fred's point-of-view was refreshing cuz it focused on the discipline inside the army, not mainly on how hard it is

If you love your life, I highly suggest you stay an RN in the civilian world. I was first in the army then I developed issues. I am 2 months away from becoming an RN. As much as loved the army, I love my mental and physical health a lot more. You will help more people as an RN that is functional than one that is traumatized due to being in the army. More soldiers have died after coming back home due to mental illness than actually dying in war.

The Army is a mismanaged cess pool. I joined in 2018 and it was a complete joke. At inprocessing I suffered from extreme neglect (starvation, no bathroom breaks, no healthcare), AIT is a prison school, so soldiers have zero freedom, and once they do get to their unit not only do they not get to do their MOS, they end up spending 99% of their time doing worthless details. I gained no skills and no experience in the Army, went nowhere and did nothing. Doing PT everyday not only breaks you down physically, but it gives you very little free time with your family and little sleep. Soldiers have to do the ACFT, which is a six event PT test that you have to train for on your own, because regular PT does not prepare you for it. You will also suffer from regular food insecurity as the Army does not prioritize feeding its troops healthy, protein rich meals. Fred was only shown the surface level of what troops go through each day. The situation is actually far worse. The Army has been mismanaged into the ground.

@@larryjsmith2767 In what way do you work with them? Exactly you aren't a teacher so you aren't seeing them day in and day out. Everyone of a previous generation calls the next lazy. But its rarely true. People claim millennials are lazy and complain, because we - rightfully, say that we can't save for a house, and baby boomers are the first to say its easy, despite the fact that housing affordability is literally at all time low, and almost the median house price:median income ratio is so much higher than it was for those baby boomers, who could save for a 20% deposit in a couple of years, of a single income of a manual labour job, where they could purchase a house in a decent area/suburb, close to the city, that would be worth millions today. Its very easy to just accuse a genreation of being lazy, but its never the case.

DO NOT JOIN. As crazy as it sounds, the Army doesn't want you to join. In 2018 the Army had a shortage of 6,0000 troops and they made it clear to us everyday that we weren't wanted. You will suffer from extreme neglect at in-processing (starvation, no bathroom breaks whatsoever, no healthcare), and you will be treated like complete garbage. Once you do make it through basic you will be end up in prison school, where you're harrassed if you walk to a dumpster or turn a corner by yourself, and doing PT everyday will take away all of your freetime and sleep. It also won't prepare you for the insane six-event ACFT test. You will suffer from food insecurity your entire time in the Army (they don't prioritize nutritous, protein rich meals), and you will never do the mos you chose. Instead, 99% of your time will be wasted doing worthless details for toxic leadership. When I left, I gained no skills, went nowhere and did nothing. The Army was a complete waste of time. If you want to be treated right, join the Airforce and Coast Guard, even the Space Force if you can. Remember, you can always join the Army, but the other branches rarely take prior service. Go where you're wanted, not where you're hated, and the Army hates you. Their troop shortage is well deserved. Fred has only shown you the surface of what these individuals have to through each day. In reality they probably all hate their lives and want to leave. In comparison to the other branches, the Army provides no benefits and is at an extreme disadvantage in terms of quality of life and real-world skill trainining. I joined as a 91E, a welder and machinist, and the first thing I was told was that I wasn't allowed to do my job by my leadership. The Army has been mismanaged into the ground and things haven't improved at all. r/Army is full of people making negative posts. Don't give them the satisfaction of handing them your time and freedom so you can mop bathrooms for a living.

@@darnnecobarruvias4174 Don't let anyone pressure you to join. I regret not going with my gut instinct after I suddenly got a terrible feeling that I was ruining my life. You can back out up to the point before you take the pledge, and if you tell other branches you passed MEPS they'll be more likely to work with you. The ACFT is no joke. As a female the deadlift was ruining my back, and being able to pass the ball toss was out of sheer luck. Army soldiers do PT every morning, but other branches don't. It gets old pretty fast. PT doesn't prepare you to pass the ACFT so it limits your free time even more because you have to go to the gym after work.

@@rikoea6530 In the army you can actually still back out in basic training, though the drills will wait a long time to file the paperwork to get you to do the dirty work for the cycle going through. Your last real fast chance of leaving would be in 30th AG, the place you go to get issued all your gear and get in processed into the army.
@rikoea6530
@rikoea6530 2 жыл бұрын
@@professionalschizo Lol I was doing the ACFT back when I had to lift 140lbs. I weighed 120lbs at the time and had to work hard for a year to even develop the right form. At the same time I was killing my back. Meanwhile the guys were able to pass easily with no practice. I would love to see your 12 year old niece attempt to pass this test, especially at the original standards that you loved. The test was so difficult that the females were actually improving on their rucks scores and surpassing the men because the men didn't have to practice. They were becoming significantly weaker. Also, I definitely was not out of shape. I was the only female in my unit who could do a leg tuck and I did five of them. I'm 5' 2" and so being able to do the ball throw is pure luck. I was in the best shape of my life but could also feel myself physically breaking at the same time. The ACFT is still insanely difficult and complicated because you have to learn 6 events, develop the right form, go to the gym after work everyday, and can't slack off on preparing for it if you're a woman. If I knew the Army had a test like this I wouldn't have joined but unfortunately it was implemented while I was still in. All the other branches have to do are pushups, crunches (situps are being phased out), and a 1.5 mile run. Also, I passed the ACFT under the original standards. I had to sacrifice a lot of personal time to do so and was injuring myself in the process. Never tried it under the gender specific standards we have now. Also, Rusty the military clearly isn't for you if this is your attitude in regards to the ACFT. I hope you realize that sooner rather than later. You've never actually seen any of these individuals attempt to take the test so it's very clear to me you haven't tried it either.

I joined the Army when I was 17 years old many centuries ago to be an Airborne Infantryman a real Paratrooper. I lived my dream and traveled many places like the around the states, Europe, Central America, and combat in the Middle East. Luckily I survived my time in service all by choice. Each person has to make their choice in life, make it with adventure or just go through life just saying that you almost joined and never did anything...😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣😅😅😅😛😛😛😛

23 out of 40 hits. Does that not make anyone else sick? That's 57.5% accuracy on a stationary target with no stress-induced conditions. What a pitiful standard!

I couldn't be a soldier. I couldn't ever point a gun at someone (even if it's a "bad guy") and I'm not willing to learn how to operate one either. Seemed like a valuable experience though!

Don't worry most american soldiers point their guns at good guys - mostly middle eastern kids.

When someone is trying to kill you, and your best friends, you'd be surprised what you're willing to do. It's all about the person next to you, fighting with you.
