I believe you will find that the "4 takes" is time in the studio. That does not include the hours/days/weeks planning and rehearsing the song. What they do is record in one take four times over, then pick the best one for publishing.

My fave evolution video of theirs is of Ariana Grande. They spend a lot of time and energy arranging these evolutions so the transitions are smooth. They do NOT rehearse these reactions 4 or 5 times. They rehearse many many more times than that. When the evolution is ready to be recorded, they record 4-5 times and pick the best one to drop.

They put a lot of time into working out the arrangements beforehand. I'm pretty sure that I've seen an interview with either Ben Bram (who arranges their songs with them) or with Scott saying that the evolutions they tend to do the bulk of the detailed arranging on the day as they are so complex that they would forget them if they did them in advance! So they will have a basic arrangement already in place when they get to the studio, then they run through it again, and again, and again to get it right, then record it. Endless Noise, the studio they have done a lot of the Evolutions in, said in a podcast that they often get it down in one or two takes once they get to the point of being ready to record, then do two or three more to see if they can improve it. Whether this one was done that way, I don't know, but I think the early ones were.
