I was born in 1989 and was five years old when The Lion King came out. My parents bought me all the Disney soundtracks on cassette when I was a kid. My favorite was "Bare Necessities" from the Jungle Book. My mom had a 1990 Toyota Camry and my dad had 1993 Chevy Blazer when Lion King came out in 1994, and after taking me to see the movie they inevitably bought me the soundtrack tape. One time, it was just me and my mom in the '93 Blazer on a trip up to Connecticut to visit my Grandma in about 1994 or 1995. I was riding shotgun, and I can remember playing this song (I just can't wait to be King) over and over again during the drive (My poor mother!).
