Thank you! I began watching your channel on Jan 1st. Singed up at my local CrossFit and love it! I’m 43 and was nervous to go, but your videos gave me the nudge. I appreciate that brother!

Hey Jason. I had the pleasure meeting you briefly @ DIA (on the conveyor belt). Started Crossfit in my 50’s and enjoy your ‘masters’ content. Next up 24.2. Safe travels.

Hey, I completed 24.2 today and managed to get 755 reps on scaled! very happy with that. I just couldn't do that many double unders so would of failed and got annoyed but hey, next year I'll be RX everything!

I've just crossed over my first year at Crossfit and this is the first time I'm doing the open. I was expecting to only do the scaled or even foundational levels for the open this year but to my surprise I've been able to RX the last two workouts (hopefully 24.3 too, but wouldn't be surprised if they threw in some more advanced movements meaning I'd have to scale it). 24.1 and 24.2 have been big wins for me with lifting a heavier dumbbell than I would for overhead dumbbell snatches (guess I'm stuck with the 50lb dumbbells now haha) and also getting in some pretty decent weight (for me) deadlifts and a lot of double unders in. I managed just over 5 rounds (19 reps into the row) for 24.2 which I am extremely happy with.

@@JasonGrubb It's definitely made the experience more fun. Elite athletes such as yourself can still absolutely push and go for high reps and great times but then the newbies like myself can also see what we're capable when not limited by movements that aren't yet possible. Save the ring muscle ups for the second round of qualifier events I say, haha!

Something I miss probably is the Damper settings. What do you recommend knowing the big difference between 3 and 7? I would use a lower one to avoid engaging too much strength to save for the dead’s.
@JasonGrubb
@JasonGrubb 8 ай бұрын
Agree... damper settings can make a difference, but I mostly stick with 5-6. I train there and know what that feels like all the time.

My goal for this year was simply quarterfinals in 50-54. How should someone determine whether the first attempt at a workout was acceptable and if not when is good timing to re-test?
@JasonGrubb
@JasonGrubb 8 ай бұрын
it's tough... if you feel like you could approach the workout differently in order to improve, it may be worth the retest. You can get a pretty good feeling by sunday night whether you should retest to try to improve your score (to improve your rankings).

Should I break the deadlifts into sets of 2 or 3 when I tend to trip a lot in the dubs when feeling fatigue?

Hey Champ! A couple months in my CF journey a coach taught me how to row without straps and since then I've never used them unless its 2000m+. Do you find that straps help you with rowing speed. I maintained 1:50-2:00/500m this whole workout without straps.

I have a question. When ones DU are really poor, do you think it's possible to make that up with the other movements (DL and Rower)?
@JasonGrubb
@JasonGrubb 8 ай бұрын
You can't make it all up on the row - for sure. The row will mess with your dead and double unders. BUT - you can push the row a bit to make up time - just not an all out sprint.

What would you suggest someone who is still working on double unders? At my best and did it once I strung 6 in a row but most likely it will be like 2 or something like single, double, single, single, double, etc? Thanks in advance!!

@@JasonGrubb just reporting back of my result! 5 + 25. I rowing and deadlifts are my wheelhouse so I held rower at 2:00 split (looking back could of gone faster because 2:00 was my recovery). Deadlift was broke up to 2 sets. Now the real work, DUs. I was doing single, double, single, single, double, etc cadence breaking up at 10s to control heart rate. Calves and forearms major muscle group hitters and lungs were somewhat fine. I got some major homework to do on DUs but thanks again for the advice!
