The information in that data is actually worth a lot of money... and all of it goes to big tech. At the very least, people should be paid for their data. It is a form of labor that the likes of Google, without sharing the profit with those who preform the labor to create the product, benefit unimaginably from. The product is data, and (in the information age more than ever) data is a valuable resource.

My point in the last comment was that we should own and control our own data. I seem a bit rude here but I prefer Google spying on me than an app from the PRC. In American/Western companies or American/Western Governments there is democracy and at least some scrutiny. As for the CCP and PRC, there is no one who can stop or check on them.
