@joshuacadebarber8992 Жыл бұрын
@@6stringshredder you have the components that form the song and procedurally place them together building the song from a set of rules and orders of operation which results in a rich landscape of sound from independent notes/progressions/etc, rather than playing all the components together to form the whole simultaneously, it follows a set of processes that combine together following a formula which results in an outcome that produces a meaningful song

I do this all the time. It's one of my favorite ways to jam by myself. I come up with a part and put it on loop until I come up with something interesting to play over the top of it. I then record that and do the process again. I keep going until I can't find anything cool to add. My basic rule for doing it is I try to add parts with contrasting rhythms, distinct tones, or in different areas of the fretboard. Once I feel like there's no "space" left, I stop.

Wow, this has some character to it I found in some of my favourite video game composers for some reason. It has a lot of Old School David Wise flair to it, particularly his work on Donkey Kong Country with these melanchonic soaring tones. The Halfstep reminded me a lot on how Toby Fox writes dramatic songs often. Either way, this is brilliant.

Basically how video game music works, the same instrument stacked ontop of itself many times to create a lot of sound depth and variation, it's super interesting how we can blend sounds, and is a great way to note that not every instrument Needs to sound distinct in a piece, that it is allowed to blend together and create a new sound rather than separate ones working together.

This is essentially what I need to do, but it's a mix of Thrash, NWOBHM Mathcore Hardcore Metalcore Jazz and Dark Ambient. So only parts get this layered, but even rhythm tones are 4 amps, 2 Blend HM2S, fuzz layer, high gain North America, British and Euro Hi Gain, several speakers, mics and the Freeman technique blend. But I kinda helped influence Metalcore Mathcore and NWOAHM in the 90s(Many Dillinger Escape Plan, Snapcase, Overcast, Shadows Fall gigs, Hellfest and Boston Metal fest 99, and took Unearth on their first tour.) That band was Since the Fall, (Prior band was Downtime in HS til 97, STF formed Early 97 same as Dillinger, we evolved at the same rate, then after a band called Duke Hellington which was like 10 years ahead of most Mathcore in 2002 with BTBAM and Protest the Hero mixed ins but fell apart due to new found alcoholism and an abusive ex wife) we released a Dogshit split shit 97 Demo, a 98 "Demo", which every 'zine called an EP because it was too well done, like, studio ADAT, Printed Cassettes and shrink wrapped tape sleeve was big for a demo in 98! (The Etown Concrete Demo only came in one side and was def done on a 4 track Tascam cassette.) and a 1999 Full Length Indie Album. still can't believe I have fans from 25 years ago still. Broke up in talks with Eulogy with Unearth due to Skinhead drama and me not wanting to play our home town anymore due to riots. ) So I want to mix those and Death Metal and Primus and weirder vocals to start another new Genre. Stagnation is Metal's worst enemy. We get bored easy, it's why we listen to Metal and Hardcore 🤣

Excellent! Well done. 💯 I have this "problem" with every song I record.... layer after layer, after layer... "too many" layers... I love not simply a "wall of sound" but an interesting and varied landscape of music... where the mind can always focus in different places and hear different part combinations, then swing back to listen to the whole... that's why I like Hans Zimmerman--he's all layers, and very frequently, many layers of the exact same part... Very well done, as usual. 👏
