Do you make the shaft yourself, or do you have them made for you, has the shaft seems to be the hardest thing to make, with the cutting of the threads and the handle on the end, great video's .many thanks JC.

Hi James I make everything from scratch yes the threading can be a pig of a job getting the thread started and level is hard but that could be because the diameter of the rod it might be slightly wrong you buy a rod 8mm but it's 8.2 dont seen a lot but makes it impossible to thread good luck

@@hastingsangler Your a expert at pumping those worms, so many anglers out there want to learn this skill , i have the next size up from yours, in diameter and am learning to pump worms myself , I'm managing to pump about 25 to 30 worms on a session, but having watched your video's you gave a tip out, not to push the pump into the sand, and that's what Ive been doing, and because Ive been pushing the pump , I've been finding it hard to get the pump into the sand , also something tells me my current pump is to tall for me, has I'm only 5: 4, which is the size of a small school kid, and i feel i could lose 3in from the length of the pump , and get more purchase over the pump, don't no what you think about pump length for shorter people, good luck JC.

@@JamesCagney-g6z Hi JC in my new video i talk about the shaft lenghts on bait pumpsso many buy a pump that too long for them i work on the basis 6foot plus 1.1 mtr shaft 5.7 to 6ft 1mtr i would say you would need arout 900mm make it too short and the pumps dont work so well i think 1 off the best tips is the tape at 10" on the pump stop you going to deep i have shown alot of people how to get thier own bait and most go too deep and try to push the pump in let them work together apply a bit of pressure on the handle the pull the shaft slowly at the same time the pum will soon go into the sand very easy good luck ps if you was local i would show you happy christmas

@@hastingsangler Thanks for the tips, I'll keep watching your technique on your video's and practice when the weather picks up, i live 5 minuets from the beach, but miles away from you, i live in Blackpool, so couldn't be any further away, but thanks for the offer of the couching, i did master the art off the pendulum cast, and i remember one summer evening ,fishing off the sea wall, all the anglers were all set up, and waiting for the sea to reach the sea wall , and i remember setting my gear up and casting over the sand and into the sea, which none of the other anglers could cast that far, and within two minuets of my bait landing into the surf, i had a fish on, and i can remember all the anglers looking over the sea wall , and watching me reel this fish in across the beach, they where all amazed a little guy off 5, 4. could cast that far, and i was so chuffed i learnt that skill, anyway all the best for Christmas ,and the new year, and I'll enjoy watching your skill with that pump, good luck , JC.

Question Dave, finding many casts but few with blow holes to know direction to pump. I end up using the cast hole which works sometimes but usually with a tail. Is this down to sand condition or timing on the hide. Cheers!

Hi all along our beach all you will see is just the cast never a blow hole so we put the pump about 4" from the cast and a angle of 22 deg and about 10" deep every I help I tell them to put a bit of tape on the pump at 10" and not to go past that tape you would be surprised how many go miles deeper that's why they get tails good luck
