No. The pond is safe if you’re just living there. But if you leave, it’s a high trafficked area that you’re bound to run into a group of cannibals. The best safe places to go to are the fertile lands or the ship area. That’s about it.

Yea like i know that this dude's base is built in geese or duck lake so i always build by base like a square compound right in that big circle surrounded by trees with a cave thats right near geese lake, i mean its perfect, ur surrounded by trees, which means u can build an entire compound and a log cabin in the middle, there is a lot of space for the compound in question, you have an opening to the beach meaning you can get free meat from turtles, you are near the modern axe, yacht, crossbow, rebreather and katana and its quite easy to build,and when those mutants attack your base, since you can hear them before they reach you, you can just exit through the door and attack them manually, however if u play with no building destruction, u can just hit them trough the walls

Yes. This base location is the safest, much like some of the outer islands surrounding the main island. Regardless of that, the worms can still reach you. I remember myself and a few friends made a house boat (we were bored and wanted to do something different) and were chased (still in the ocean) by the worms. We weren't safe.

I've only ever seen the worm once, not sure what spawns it. Apart from that this location gives great access to most resources without going to far.

@@xaviexop the worm spawns past a certain day depending on difficulty, normally around day 40 on harder difficulty’s and 70 on easier ones, thought it’s quite rare so you don’t see many in a playthrough. It also has something wrong with how it spawns since it’s able to spawn in a base, on an island in the middle of the ocean (speaking from experience)

It's also possible to build a wooden platform on the ocean. You can transport logs using raft :P

I got The Forest from a friend so we could do multiplayer. I only play it with them (not my kind of game), but I remember finding out about how water kills any enemy immediately, because I was trying to lead the Fat Guy away from our base, and decided to bring him down to the ocean. I am so bad at combat I can’t even kill a basic cannibal, so tricking it into killing itself is my biggest accomplishment.

After 800+ days no deaths... i can wholeheartedly say... close... Got to modern axe drop. At top of rope go forward till the water, make a left and go past the 4way intersection thru a little hole to a small section of cave. Build a bed, chair, fire and live forever... my no build playthru made me aware of how safe the caves actually are. I highly suggest a no build playthru... you will learn a lot about how enemies work.. you'll never feel threatened again and will be safe no matter where you decide to hang your jacket.

If you HAVE to build... keep it simple.. fire.. tent.. drying racks.. chair to rest maybe. You'll learn that nighttime is your friend, mutants are blind, bushes are your home, that lighter is NOT your friend and you should never use it outside, you can avoid 99% of attacks by sprinting sideways and turning your camera with the enemy... making armor useless once you've mastered movement... the no build run is a hell of a thing. Use it. Become a god.

I think the fertile land are the best as they have no enemy patrols in a large area, protected by a River, a large amount of resources on the other side and a large open space

Actually fat mutants and worms can still destroy this base, so the truly safest place is the beginning of some caves. There is usually a safe place where no enemies can go into and you can get logs into the cave if the entrance isn't a rope crawl. But there is basically no need to look for a safe spot since you can kill almost anything with just spears.

I just make multiple small cabins with food racks and fire and I set traps along my routes just run em through the deadfall and spear ftw

Me and a buddy go straight to the main cannibal camp and wipe out whoever's there. We then immediately begin fortifying it with walls running between every building, and a catwalk on top of all the walls. Fortified even further with traps along every wall. If anyone tries to attack us while we're building, one of us gets into the fray while the other one keeps building as to not be set back too long. After a while, they just stop attacking in force lol

My friends and I have been wanting to capture each cannibal camp, but didn't want to waste time and end up having them spawn in the bases. Do the cannibals stop spawning if you build there, do they start spawning if you leave for too long?

I always put a base in DAD COVE. Its the cove bottom right of the map. Theres a patch of land with ocean to one side, mountain to the other and usually nothing spawns from behind you because the cannibals dont have a campsite over there. Deer and squirrels spawn on the beach. Its got a quick jog over the beach, through some rocks, and you have access to lizards, rabbits, and berries.

those can get destroyed I'm pretty sure and if you make your base on a spawn line then your fucked anyhow. let's say it like this, the game has chunks and whenever you aren't in a certain chunk an enemy can spawn in there, so even with the best outside protection you are indeed fucked if you build in the wrong place

I have the second best place. Directly south of the main/biggest cannibal camp are a series of small islands and that's where I'm building. So far I'm on day 221 and only 2 enemies spawned. I have some videos on my channel

There is a better place actually, the right hand side, the elevated part of the island there has only 3 access points. When building a wall there it completely prevents enemies from getting up there. These blockaded walls are far outside the player radius so the won't be attacked either and there is straight up no spawn point inside theis area. The problem with this lake is the giabn saussage monster can still obliterate your base.

The cockpit is the best spot. Center of the map, water, animals, berries, caves, arrows and flares just in 1 spot, u even have the hole and the ship really close

You could actually build bases within the cave systems. After they are cleared out it's not only a safe option but an aesthetic option. Cave bases are some of the coolest looking in the forest. Just put a couple log containers in the entrance of the cave and you can transport all the logs inside the caves.

I built my shelter on the base of a cliff in the fertile lands. Built walls around it, and even after 30 days in the game, have barely seen any enemies. I’m close to a pond for water, blueberry bushes, edible plants, plus lots of sticks and trees. One of the best places to build imo

Same. A perfect place to build a military village on those cliffs. I don't know what difficulty you play this game on, but at least on hard difficulty after the 7th day, there's a 10% chance of an Armsy spawn on those cliffs even if you surround all steep endings of the cliffs by building defensive walls.

Caves are the safest you can still get fire thrown at you there but in a cave nothing. Placing log holder in cage entrance is still possible with funny method. And you can get a zip line from overworld into cave too tho there no video of that public. But boom base in cave 100% safe and you get loot respawning. Unlimited supplies

Mutants may attack and destroy your zipline. You will have a hard time shipping in wood, when everything has to go by that zipline. Furthermore, you have poor visibility of the surroundings, enemies can come in from all sides. One last point... there are many, many bodies of water in the game, many of them with much better visibility.

Huh??? I always Builds on the Island next to the Underwater Cave where to find the Crossbow. No enemies and A Lot of Space Only to Build without any Problyms. And More than Enough turtles to survive. I Recomment if anyone wanna try there are 2 Options. Singleplayer Build a Raft with Log, Stick, stone Holders and a Flag to Mark the Raft. Thats how you bring all supplies to the island. Way 2. Multiplayer. Well you play on a game with at least one Other Person you could both build a raft as Described for Singleplayer but i recomment to build the large Raft and build on top more of the other staff and a Bed too. The Only thing you shall know is. The Best way to play like this is to Protect your Haven and Build at least one or better more outposts with Palisades, more holders, Defense Towers and sleds.

As safe as this place is, I will never build a base here. 1. You’d have to make a pretty tiny base for it to be safe. 2. It takes away the fun of having to defend your base with spike walls, and traps

Just dont build near caves or cannibal bases, preferably shores. So you have atleast enough time to build a good base before day 7 (the big cave mutants come out and youre cooked)

This game was so good and so bad at the same time. I like most things in this game but one of the fundamental things make me not want to play. The mutants. I hoped for some mod that keep cannibals but remove mutants from the game but it never happened. In the end, Green hell is my choice of similar games but my crappy laptop couldnt handle last updates, so i need to buy pc on my next salary because i want to play it after this video and remembering that game
