For 5 years I had been feeding a stray cat in my yard he never let me pet him. Then a few months ago he came to the porch and rubbed his body against my legs. I knew then that it would be ok to pet him. He never misses a meal. I named him Walter.

I think the cat already knew it wanted u but it could sense the other cats and also smell them on you. That's why it had to approach gradually. If u had brought it in from the start, you'd have to do something called gradual introduction, very complicated, give it a separate room, swap scents, etc, otherwise they'll fight. He's so smart he did his own gradual introduction

Quoi qu'il en soit il a eu de la chance d'être recueilli par la dame de la vidéo... Tellement souvent que ces situations se produisent, c'est dégueulasse... Il y aurait beaucoup à dire !!! A good way to befriend kitties is to provide food and water. Then a cardboard box with a lid, and several holes cut in the sides and warm rags to snuggle in. (They can see danger approach that way.) Then put a lawn chair out, and sit reading or watching KZbin cat videos so she gets used to your presence. Slow blinks are how a cat says "I trust you," so give her lots of those, and eventually she'll climb up on your lap for your kitty massage session. Leave your door open, don't shut her in or she may panic. Good luck. They like soft voices and smelly old shoes, chasing rag toys and sunspots to luxuriate.

It seems to me that your new home was his home and the previous owners were his family, but they left him behind. Some people think a cat is attached to his surroundings not the people who own him, but in part it’s true, as the cat is attached to his territory however cats still depend on their owners and need them and miss them, and they should be leaving with their family because they adapt to a new environment. Keep the cat indoors, just looking out the window to view his or her new area, for 3 weeks, then after that open the door and let the cat stand at the open door until he ventured out and he will stay close by the property, and the adjustment is finalised and successful . Or just keep the cat as an indoor cat. I have moved house over the years and my cats went with me and adjusted well to their new surroundings.

Thank you for sharing your experiences with your cats and relocation. If I ever move it will be a cold day somewhere hot! Cats are amazing little creatures and although I no longer am blessed by the companionship of any, I’ll always treasure the memories of mine. I’m much too old now but support my city’s animal shelter. Donations of bedding, food, cleaning products, collars and leashes as well as money for medical care are always needed. 🐾♥️🐾

Congratulation! The cat adopted you by the fourth day. He's a boy, so needs to be neutered so he will get along with your cats and not spray. Get him checked out by a vet for contageous diseases before you let him mix with your cats. He's a handsome boy!

Get him fixed. That's probably why he was outdoors in the first place. People don't get their cats neutered and then when they spray they kick them outside because somehow that's better.

Excellent suggestion. Neutered animals live longer, healthier lives than in-tact animals. Neutering prevents most reproductive cancers in animals - the plus is that they tend to stay close to home and lose the urge to wander and end up being strays.

I think this cat belonged to the previous house owner. My brother’s law partner did the same thing according to a family friend who purchased the attorney’s house. It was the absolute sweetest thing. I pet that cat for 30 minutes when I left their house once.
