Fully agree with your comments about the Star Wars sequels (made me a Rian Johnson fan) , a possible Terminator sequel by Jim Cameron, the »Alien Isolation« game I just have to replay each year (only »big« game I've ever purchased, besides Portal 2 and the Talos Principle). Looking forward to watching »Alien: Romulus« in a proper setting. Cheers!

You give Alien 3 its due! To disagree strongly with Stuckmann, 2 points-- when Dillon hits the fence rather than Ripley, it made sense to me, she's REALLY effing with his spiritual journey there, and remember he hates women. So she's basically telling him to have his pre-God-religion jollies like MAJOR TEMPTATION, and possibly telling him to do what he would have liked to do when she first appeared, to save his brothers from Ripley/Jezebel. Her Jesus-like sacrifice would put her up on a level with a man who would sacrifice himself for his brother, so he's also JEALOUS. He wants his life to have meant something and she is mocking that with her willingness, WITHOUT religion, to die for him. It also made perfect sense for Ripley to very respectfully jump Clemens' bones. She's a survivor, and the most powerful thing you can do in the face of death is enjoy life, YOLO! She's completely untethered from life because of outliving everyone she's ever known. Think how lonely that would feel, and her need for connection-- and Charles Dance was a hottie. Also, I really enjoyed Romulus. I rewatched Prometheus last night, and all of these scientists, who are supposed to have two brain cells to rub together, consistently make such dumb decisions, it annoys me so much.Down to almost getting smushed by a rolling spacecraft! Also, the way Vickers refuses the captain until he negs her, ugh. Fer chrissakes, he's Idris Elba. Sorry this is so long!

Alien³ is my second favorite in the trilogy. It's so good. Alien Romulus is a bizarre nonsensical film that feels like an AI script with all the Alien films entered in with a board room of suits entering in the requirements for best algorithm box-office results. Pretty much nothing makes sense. The big chap makes facehuggers with their dna now? The facehuggers make black goo inside them? The bizarre un necessary deep fake "rook' which was just ridiculous with the production design. The girl giving herself the black goo?? No reason? Stupid. Ridley obviously had a hand in the end with his retcon of the queen, he hated the queen in 86 and Prometheus covenant and romulus are only there for him to prove his bizarre black goo crap. And it never makes sense. This film gets so much worse the more I think of it.

I am working on a recut of PROMETHEUS and COVENANT cause my own cut v1 sucks in comparison. I wanna do more podcast reviews but they’re not hitting as well as I’d like. But if more people express interest in it I’ll do them! Was thinking two epis of TRAP with a buddy and FURIOSA
@beoneOoneАй бұрын
@ Man… I’m so into that. I’m a huge fan of the two and I always wanted to write my own version of a sequel to Prometheus before we got covenant which i do really enjoy as well. I wish we got a continuation of those. Kind of ironic I’m currently watching The Last Duel when I got your response. And I’m sure it’s hard getting views these days. But if you keep doing it I bet it’ll gain traction. Would be into The Trap and Furiousa discussion also. Keep doing your thing your audience will grow with time. If you ever wanna chat more and bounce ideas let me know.

I really liked the movie but I think Rook was executed poorly. I don't hate the idea of reviving a dead actor with cgi (as long as their estate approves it), but I don't think they had the tech to pull it off. I found the cgi to be pretty distractingly bad. If they were able to make it 100% believable, then I wouldn't be complaining. They were better off using a synthetic of an actor that's still alive. Would have been cool to see a David model there instead or something. I have seen complaints about the fanservice in general, but I mostly don't mind it. Some people hate the "get away from her you bitch" reference, but idk, my theater seemed to like it. I felt the end was going maybe a bit too far though. I liked the new creature a lot (it's called the Offspring, according to the credits), but I think having Rain mirror Ripley that much was a little unnecessary. Like having her in her underwear, just like in Alien. Having her get into a space suit, just like in alien. Having an ending voice recording, just like in alien, etc. After giving homage to alien and the alien series as a whole throughout the whole movie, I feel like the ending was their opportunity to do something unique.

I'm going to be completely honest... I did not really like this movie much to my dismay. There were several little things that just bugged me about this movie, and its double ending felt redundant, LOTS of parallels to past movies that felt like the issue with modern franchise films. I honestly rolled my eyes at a few of the "fan service" quotes referencing Aliens and Alien because they felt out of place, like the characters wouldn't actually say those lines. It had a few very smart moments and references to the originals though. I found the characters names were not memorable. Surprisingly I still overall enjoyed the movie, and think it fits in the universe well enough. Side note, at the theater I went to, opening night there were people talking behind us for the first 30 minutes and a whole family arrived late and had to walk directly in front of my group literally as the movie started! I would like to rewatch the movie just to cement my opinions but I gained more of an appreciation for Alien: Covenant for just being its own thing. I still prefer Alien, Aliens, and Alien 3, and then Alien: Isolation. That is about where I check out of the franchise. Regardless, great to see you again Matt, I've been a longgggg time watcher, I used to be waayy younger in some of your videos and such haha.

In my opinion, I think Prometheus and covenant are definitely the weakest of the bunch it has a little desire sometimes it often easily forgettable in franchise of those two I’m glad they’re canceled discontinued But I feel like Romulus is easily a new start for the right direction with some familiar moments with the movie, but it did better than those last two
