Fabulous tribute to a great man...I was born in San Francisco and raised on the Monterey Peninsula by another great man, my late father whom as an emigre had a lifelong love affair with the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, to the great benefit of his wife and kids. Though we were a "tennis-family" the presence and aura of Jack O'Neill and his (what would be an iconic) company was felt everywhere. Fast forward 25 years I would be a "Surfer-Dad" with two "surf- rats" in San Diego...and whenever we'd need surf-gear, I'd just say to my kids, "get what ya like and what feels right...oh--and make sure it's O'Neill".

we surfers really have to thank this man, pioneer, inventor, and his way given back to our surf community. when i started surfing in 1974 i didn't have one for two years in seal beach. my parent's bought my wilson wet suit and then bailey THEN O'NEILL animal skin and i've been warm all these years " 43 " of surfing and i say mr. o'neill thank you for keeping us warm for all these years and like you said " it's all ways summer on the inside of a o'neill "

Beautiful. Love the end part where he says he may have had a really bad day but he'd go surfing & catch a wave & then everything was ok. I know just how he feels. He will be missed. May he rest in peace.

Had the great good fortune to work for O'Neill, the entire O'Neill family. Anytime I ever think of Jack, I feel happy. Thank you Jack for making surfing so much better, and better, and better!

I have surfed for more than 45 years, and in the early days, yes the late sixty's early seventies, the ONLY!!!! suit you used was a BLACK O"Neill and a clear board. It was almost the first thing I ever bought with my own money. You kept them till they were rubber rages. From full suit or long john to cutting of the arms and legs to make a short john or spring suit. You surfed till dark and before the sun came up,because of those suits. Learned to work on cars, and drive down dirt roads, learned Spanish because of those suits, learned about girls and beer and smoke and junk food because of those suits. Thank God for Jack O'Neill and surfing.SURFS UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

I miss the old(er) O'Neill shop on 41st ave., the little one with the wood panels. Getting boards and suits there in the early-mid 70's. I'd go back right now if I could.

Great video, truly inspirational! Discovered this two years ago, but still come back regularly to watch it again. Just heard Baz Luhrman's 'Sunscreen' on the radio and finally get where the inspiration came from.
