Maybe the Norwegian accent sounds so german in English, because to me (a German), Norwegian is kind of a mixture between English, German and Swiss German (I'm not sure if that's the actual word for 'Schweizerdeutsch', but Google told me so I'll have to trust). This makes it pretty easy to learn when you are a German, who speaks English (not fluent at all as you can see, but I can express myself and understand everything) and lives near Switzerland so you understand most of Swiss German :D
