ঘন কুয়াশায়ও ফ্লাইট নির্বিঘ্ন রাখতে শাহজালাল বিমানবন্দরে আইএলএস-টু চালু হচ্ছে শিগগিরই। এরই মধ্য শেষ হয়েছে সব কাজ। সনদ পেতে এখন পরীক্ষামূলক উড্ডয়ন-অবতরণের প্রস্তুতি নিচ্ছে সিভিল অ্যাভিয়েশন। এদিকে ৩ থেকে ৪শ মিটার দৃষ্টিসীমার পর অবতরণ নিশ্চিতে আইএলএস-থ্রি বসানোর পরামর্শ দিচ্ছেন বিশেষজ্ঞরা।
ILS-2 will soon be launched at Shahjalal Airport to keep flights smooth even in dense fog. All work has been completed by now. Civil aviation is now preparing for test flight and landing to get the certificate. Meanwhile, experts are recommending installing ILS-3 to ensure landing after 3 to 400 meters visual range.

Money has been wasted in a lot of other projects that could have paid for a complete upgrade of DAC navigation and telecommunication systems. Don't know why the new radar took so long to get installed while we were losing millions in over flight fees to Kolkata.

@@marufruma true, but you have to note that Kolkata airport also has two parallel runways and serves at-least 2 times more air traffic daily than Dhaka does. They also have a ground radar which we don’t have yet. Ground radars are used to track aircraft movement on the ground precisely in any conditions using an aircraft’s ADS-B out signal from its transponder. Dhaka airport still has a long way to go, especially the debut of Terminal-3 first and the consequent increase in flight traffic, in order to warrant and justify the cost of putting in ILS CAT-III. Otherwise, there is a chance that it might end up being underused and being a loss project. Once again, ILS CATEGORY-III not only is expensive to setup and maintain, it is also very robust and sensitive to various nuances in the surroundings of the airport because of its high level of precision and for that reason it cannot be just setup out of the blue on any given airport in the world without fulfilling the strict normal operating conditions, which I think Dhaka Airport most probably lacks.
