I-Land 2 Ep. 3 - Review and Ranking

Finally catching up to the show... at the risk of failing my final project? Kinda don't care anymore about that part. Episode 4 review probably coming very very soon, just have to write the script, record it, and edit it.

I’m sorry it is such a setup to have such young girls doing Red Velvet’s Bad Boy. Not only is it technically difficult, via the high notes and heavy falsetto/head voice, but it also requires a certain level of maturity on stage that the girls just don’t have yet. If they were dead set on the cake girlies, keep it cute with Power Up, or Russian Roulette….. No shade to the girls I 100% blame the producers for the song choices.

I think the biggest flaw of this show is that it would be way more interesting if the i landers and grounders were closer in skills rather than a clear difference

ever since jiyoon started getting the evil editing she’s been my #1 pick of this show followed very closely by fuko. i just feel so bad for jiyoon. i cannot wait for your episode 4 reaction!!

1. As someone who has watched the original I-Land. The I-Land and Ground practice room thing is just something we’ve gotten use to. Is it clearly unfair? (Yes, definitely). Believe it or not there actually less drama in this time around. However, the intensity is still the same. 2. I’ve got a theory, what if they were planning to make Jiyoon the villian of the season, but instead of people (majority of people atleast) hating her. She ended up gaining support. So now Mnet is splitting the episodes up (I.e taking away the evil editing). That’s why her storyline doesn’t make sense. Unlike other survival shows, things have been pre-recorded (at-least I think it is), and the support voting thing is to help Mnet judge the flow of season (I.e see where the money/support is).

The way I've been continually checking your channel for the next videos because I find your way of explaining your opinions very eloquent and well thought out 😅 Minor spoilers for episode 4 if you haven't seen it yet: I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Jiyoon's story arc in episode 4! I can't tell if the producers/editors were playing the long game with her to get her into the lineup and just played into the drama to get a good storyline for tv, or if they saw the sympathy she was getting from their edit in the first 3 episodes and changed tact on the fly to lean even further into the sympathy

absolutely perfect lineup, although im not fully sold on saebi yet, maybe sarang or yuju would be better (but its kind of naive to believe that you dont need a visual stan attractor member and saebi is obviously talented enough as it is so i wouldnt mind if she makes it into the final lineup either)

As someone who watched I-LAND 1, it’s really interesting to see the mirroring storylines. It was entertaining the first time, but I really hoped for improvement (as a show I-LAND 1 is impeccable, but it traumatized my boys, wouldn’t wish the same fate for anyone). I’m somewhat glad you skipped RUNext? I really love your insights and commentary, but for me it was like GP999, so it’s hard - I really love the resulting lineup while mourning all the injustices and possibilities.

7:31 I’m glad I’m not the only one who has these thoughts I really think Yuju could’ve made a bigger difference as center , like she’s the 3rd best vocalists on the show according to technique and support and she has a low tone like i don’t think the teams think much about who they need for certain parts

1:20 agree! They became my top 2 and haven't moved since. I also want Gyuri and Mai to debut but I don't think Mai is strong enough to make it in the limited 6 spots (wish it was 7) and I don't think Gyuri has gotten to show us a not cutesy concept which I doubt will be the choice of concept for the final group unfortunately

I'm very interested why you have Chaeeun and Mai in your final line up. These girls didn't really stand out to me as the more talented contestants. Thanks for the video tho! I look forward to the episode 4 one

Not everything is based on talent alone, I think they would do more to round out my top7. Chaeeun has a strong dance background and shows potential as a vocalist, Mai is a very well-rounded team member who can fill most roles easily across concepts. They're just trainees I find interesting and want to see more from :)

Honestly I udnerstand you like Jiyoon but comparing Jiyoon and Yuju's edit makes absolutely no sense because they were completely different situations. I dont think Jiyoon was in the wrong when being upset about her part but Yuju didnt ask to try out for the centre after loosing the main rap she didnt argue for any other psoiton and settled for the smallest part by far. So it is completely different to Jiyoon's reaction. Again, I have no issue with Jiyoon's reaction but your bias is making you conflate two very different situations.
