Very interesting Marc ! Personnaly, I usually get my ideas when reading a book, or when I do nothing. But here is the thing. I get new ideas only when I take action. When I wasn't programming, i didn't get ideas and felt very bad. So guys, as Marc mentionned in the video, how can you start (because to take action you have to have an idea) ? Ask yourself what do you like, and start a project about it. Try to make it a SaaS or not, but start by something that is genuinely interesting to you.
@jameshizon48612 ай бұрын
Thanks Mark. I am working on 2 SaaS products where one is directly inspired by you. Have full time job so may take ~4 months to build.

The way he's describing how to get ideas is the same way the founder of Amplitude, Spenser Skates described how he got his idea, and Webflow founder Vlad Magdalin too. Also, Rob Walling of Microconf says this all the time. That's how I know this video has so much value. Great content !!

What stops me from launching anything is that I'm worried about commitments or responsibilities. After all, I store customer data. To what extent am I liable if this data is deleted? Is it because the database provider has made a mistake or I have installed a bug? After all, someone has paid money for this service. Are there any tips or things to bear in mind in this regard so that I don't score an own goal? I don't want to be legally prosecuted.

I would LOVE a crash course in how you do UI. I'm done with my backend, but god does it look horrible. How do you go from a pretty wireframe to a pretty webpage so fast?
@NirBenita2 ай бұрын
Some points to consider 1. Understand the basics (Consitent margins and padding, 1 or 2 fonts max, find a color palette online and stick to it) 2. Collect a few examples that look good on Dribbble/Pinterest 3. UI is not where you want to innovate - stick to familiar UI patterns, keep it simple. 4. Make sure the overall flow makes sense (Google "Shapeup Breadboarding")

@stefanhyltoft2 ай бұрын
The just build and ship tip to get ideas was pretty good. I've stuck in a rut for a long time with not being able to come up with ideas. About 4 days after the video and I'm about to launch an emberassingly low functionality mvp app soon that I've had on the shelf for months, just so I can get it off and move on to the next project.
@jonoisedev2 ай бұрын
This is great advice. People sometimes they need to come up with the greatest idea of all times, but nothing like just build something and have your friends to use it, once that app is out there your very friends who used the app and liked it will start giving you other ideas for features or other products to develop.

This is an amazing video and congratulations on the launch. But I have a very simple question coming from a non-coding background, I am learning how to code with python all with the help of AI. While you are using JavaScript to build your products, can you recommend me a tech stack that I can stick to for development in Python and yes, is it ideal to use Python or JavaScript for building basic web apps especially with the use of AI embedded to the web app. Thanks!

Thanks Marc. I need something like this. I first tried Canny but the bummer is that it requires the users to sign in in order to vote. Seems your insighto also does. Can you make that configurable? I want to link it from my App, and mandating login will have big frictions as most users wouldn't bother to do that.
@ahmedsami51832 ай бұрын
who creates your UI design?
@Dom-zy1qy2 ай бұрын
The hardest part for me is providing an intuitive frictionless UI. I always go super over the top with multiple pages that dont need to exist. So now im just tearing down a bunch of UI and putting them on the dashboard on a single screen. I probably wasted 2-3 weeks of dev time working on pointless components + styling & design. Meanwhile my backend logic & infrastructure took less than that. Anyone have any good actual UI "templates", I see a lot of them for generic dashboards, but not for more nuanced things like file uploads followed by text inputs in multistep forms.
