Welcome! Wanted to give you a tip as a new dutchie in order to become part of our society learning the language is essential. Yes most of us can speak fluent English but to become part of our society learning Dutch is essential. Otherwise you'll remain in the expat bubble. It's a difficult language to master but don't be afraid to make mistakes. We dutch people respond very well on seeing someone putting in the effort learning our culture and language. So that's the biggest tip I can give, start with language lessons as soon as possible. Try to make small talk with locals, try to watch dutch news on TV (even tho you'll likely not understand a single word at first) listen to dutch music that sort of thing in the long run it will help you massively.

The Dutch Duolingo course (I finished it a few months ago!) is great for vocabulary building, and watching movies/series in Dutch - especially things like Disney/movies with familiar dialogue - can be helpful too. Let's do it! - a fellow NL language learner

One thing you probably would like to know in advance is the testing! of air raid sirens. The first Monday of the month when the bell strikes 12:00 for about 15-20sec you will hear the air raid sirens . Don't be alarmed it's just a test (pun intended haha)

How cool to see that you're also living here in Amersfoort. I've been living here since 1978, but first i lived in the east of the Netherlands in Zutphen (amazing city) and later in Borculo (great place to have raised my kids). Remarried 12 years ago and have been living in Amersfoort ever since. I love it. Enjoy and Be Well.

@@boomdoze Standing upright next to be bike the saddle should be just below your hip joint. That's the ideal height for the saddle, it will keep your knees happy and just in general it rides more comfortable

Really try to befriend someone who can speak Dutch it will open a lot more options for you it will be easier to learn and if there are certain problems or things you don't understand just ask. Most Dutch people are really open to helping people just remember be polite, direct and honest and have the courage to ask. Also if someone say's "Sorry I don't have the time" it is not rude they really don't have time to help you just say "Alright thank you" and ask someone else. Or even ask in one of your vids here on KZbin there will be a lot of Dutch people who might watch and answer you in the chat.

hii! I decided to move to the netherlands last december so I had almost a year to save and plan for my move. The netherlands has a visa for freelancers called daft, which is what i did. @@semprefidelis76 oh you’re fine haha a freelancer is someone who works for themselves. I don’t work for a company, but have clients in the US. and yeah I pay rent. I can do a breakdown of how much it cost to live here in a future video if you’d like!

@@boomdoze thx for your reply, well I know wht freelancer is lol, but everyone vaguely talks about being a freelancer but doesn’t give any specifics. Only remote job that comes to my mind is being a programmer or something hi tech. Which I don’t have a degree for. This freelancer thing is just so vast to pinpoint. Yes look forward to next vids.
