Hi Christine, Still watching as I'm typing. I was wondering, for someone like myself who is trying to career pivot from tech support/ desktop support roles...did Accenture provide a good range of tech roles you could choose from or were you placed in a certain group based on experience and qualifications? I don't feel confident in my current career path and would like to do something where I'm properly trained and can feel confident in a hands on environment and team-oriented. I've been interested in UX research but fell off that path momentarily. I'm not currently working, so was this Apprenticeship a paid program with any benefits? I have never done one before so I'm really curious. Thank you in advance!
@AfiKoKo2 жыл бұрын
Also, congratulations!! Totally should have started with that 😆🙌🏽
@ChristineWong2 жыл бұрын
@@AfiKoKo no worries, and thank you so much! Addison, my boyfriend who also came from an IT support role before this, got into Accenture as well for tech consulting. Selling your skills and experience to what the job entails is key! If you’re going into entry level, you may be the very select few that gets selected based off of your experience and qualifications to a specific track, but for the most part it’s open. Finding a project is two ways! You can either be proactive in finding one or the staffing coordinators (HR partners at Accenture, could be a different name elsewhere) usually tries to find people for open roles in projects. Or the leadership of the project finds you instead! You still should be qualified for the role, so usually those would be priority, but if you don’t fit the requirements of the role, then definitely utilize the training the firm provides by requesting or going through the vast learning portal we have. That helps! In your case, you could take UX research courses to get UX research roles!

I also interviewed Mari Taksa who was in the Accenture apprenticeship program, and this could help! kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpPOZ6Vva91grs0 It is a paid program with benefits!

@@ChristineWong Hi Christine! Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly! This week has been so hectic for me so I didn't get to respond yesterday lol. This does sound like an opportunity that could potentially lead to other great opportunities but I'm still a bit unsure tbh. I did watch Mari's video first before commenting on this one and just finished it. She really seems like a go getter so I'm glad she's had a great experience with Accenture so far. Like you mentioned, I don't want to be pigeonholed but I'm also looking for stability right now, since I've been an IT contractor since finishing community college 4 years ago. I'd like something permanent. Again, thank you so much, it's helped me to make a decision to hear more about the Apprenticeship from the IT lead at Accenture that reached out to me.

Hey, I am currently junior in a management & operational strategy consulting firm, I was wondering if you could still rank up in compensation after leaving consulting for PM/industry, as you would already have a quite nice salary and I know that you dont progress as fast as consulting when it comes to salary and ranks in industry. I just don't want to be stuck or have to beg for augmentations, at least in consulting it's kinda scripted. What are your thoughts ?
@ChristineWong2 жыл бұрын
I think it really does depend on what consulting firm and what company you end up leaving for. I’m actually going to do a video on this since I’ve gone through the process and saw what firms and companies have provided in terms of compensation, but if you come from Big 4, MBB or Accenture, your pay (at least in the US) starts off very competitive and could be hard to match up after. For a smaller firm, it may not be as competitive though some boutique firms are so niched that they offer competitive pay as well. A startup or a non-tech company may not match up well, but a big tech company might in total comp. Technically my new role is a slight pay cut in base pay but it’s a huge increase in total comp due to the RSUs. A video is coming for this!

@ChristineWong2 жыл бұрын
I have content on that already! I think you actually started watching them too. Let me know if there is something I haven’t covered yet!
@thealys2 жыл бұрын
@@ChristineWong thanks for your replies, in the job description given to you during your job application was there knowledge of technical skills needed? And also for the role related knowledge where you asked any specific technical questions or written codes, or its just purely a discussion process?
@ChristineWong2 жыл бұрын
Technical skills were definitely recommended and they only sought for people who did have exposure to web technologies (at least for my specific team). However, my role as advertising solutions architect is not the same as a solutions architect, so it’s not very code heavy. I did not get any technical questions but more on consulting cases instead.
@thealys2 жыл бұрын
@@ChristineWong wow, what is your take on what the interview process for a job role like privacy solutions architect? I have a friend who has her interview scheduled for this role but she was given only three rounds ( leadership googliness, tech knowledge) after the first rounds with the recruiter, she is so scared, as not knowing what to expect next....
@ChristineWong2 жыл бұрын
@@thealys leadership is behavioral style, googliness (from my experience) was more like hypothetical questions. Those are easy to prepare as they are most similar to other kinds of interviews. Technical will probably be very privacy specific or specific to skills needed for that role. She could reach out to the recruiter to talk through the interview process and even some resources they may have to help prepare as that’s what I was able to do.

Summer Analyst this summer and I had to pause my time at college to work and support moving out of home with family (devils lair of an environment) and moving to the city in which my office is located. I was told some positive mind-blowing things about myself during my interviews and was wondering, do you believe when I excel in my summer analyst position, they could overlook me not having my degree YET and still hire me full time?
@ChristineWong2 жыл бұрын
Depending on the firm, they may make the full time job contingent on completion of the degree in the return offer. Nowadays a lot of firms are loosening this restriction, so I would talk to HR and explain your situation. It’s definitely a tough situation, but if you already got this internship and if they really like you after your time there, I personally don’t see an issue, but you should check with them first so nothing is a surprise.
@ChristineWong2 жыл бұрын
Good luck with everything and keep me updated! I can understand moving out of home with family (I had a devils lair of an environment too), but luckily I moved to a different state for college so it helped me to stay in college and find a job that can pay for me to move out when I graduated. 😅
