She doesn't like him, but she wants him to hire someone to find her real father. Why should he do that for an ungrateful brat?

This was actually a very sad story. Very depressing. In many ways.

It would have been a BLAST, after lying to her fiance and his parents all this time, to have a different man show up, claiming to be her real father. Betting fiance and his parents would have been REALLY mad about being lied to all this time.

Ah the most thankless job of all time . Stepfathers should be respected. Haha at least they don’t have to pay child support most cases.

Unless they are abusive, step parents should be appreciated for caring for someone else's child as if the child was their own. I have know stepparents who were better parents than the biological parent they took over for. The missing biological parents, though not dead, were bad parents. The children were better off with a loving stepparent than a non-loving bio parent.

Can't really blame her for lying about her sperm donor since she told exactly what she had always been told. And for someone so disgusted by the lies, he not only pushed the mother's lies, but made his own up even after she passed. He's no better than those he complained about.

It is very common when one of the parents does something terrible, to withhold the truth about the terrible thing they did until the child or children are adults. Then to tell them the truth. Because the one who does that is hoping that with maturity, the child (or children) can understand that they do not have to take on shame about the parent who was terrible. But, I fear that, though the intentions were good, it does not often end better not knowing the truth until adulthood. Because a youngish adult (in their 20s) may still not have the maturity to handle the awful truth. In this case, in hindsight, it would have been better for Mae to have known the truth as a child. That her mother chose her boyfriend instead of her child and died because of it. That all of the things the step-dad did for her because he cared rather than just turning her over to an orphanage. He was her dad by choice rather than biology. Because he chose to be so. Maybe keeping bad things secret from children is not doing them any favors, even though some adults choose that path.

People who describe themselves as cute in these stories always have the worst personalities. I am getting tired of these "cute" girls and women. Very tired.
