In Sims 2, when you call to go out on a date, if you fast forward game speed, the timer for the date will incorrectly accelerate too, so that it ends before the transportation even arrives. Make certain to play at regular slow speed until the date officially begins to circumvent the issue. There also is a mod by LazyDuchess that fixes this problem, "Date/Outing Stood Up Timer Fix".

Not being able to see the whole house at the time, and knowing that High's needs are ALWAYS super dooper low, I assumed he'd gone to bed and time sped up because Kevin didn't force him back awake INSTANTLY.
