I met Brenton wood back in 2015 he was super kind. My rugby coach knew him back in the day so we got a private visit from him. We ate together and he also sang for us. I remember leaving and as I was walking out he called me by my name and asked where I was going, and he said said I hope to see you soon he was a gentle soul

This man was part of so many peoples childhoods including mine, endless cruises, family jams, culturas/raza. Losing him is a reminder of the impermanency of life, the passing of our childhood memories w our chicano parents, passing thru the hoods w homies.. Thankful he existed and brought a gift w his soul/rhythm to my childhood, lived experience, and family. May his soul rest and may his legacy never be forgotten. This was wholesome meaningful music for the soul

I wonder if he knew he had almost a million more monthly listeners on Spotify than Smokey Robinson, that’s an insane achievement. He was a people’s legend. R.I.P.
