Sexual fantasies involving dubious consent is actually very common in women, for various reasons such as being shamed for wanting to explore their desires. I don't see any harm in authors being open about it all, so long as it's kept in the realm of fiction.

Lmao!! This is the same exact reaction I had. I really thought I was going to hate it and instead it cured my depression for like 4 months. Zade lives in my head rent free. It's the way he will just do all this psycho stuff, but yet will second guess littering because it would upset Addie. A masterpiece truly 🤣

People hate on dark romances because some sexual fantasies are too uncomfortable for them.
@efinah23057 ай бұрын
I guess so, but this story has a guy who assaults her and then he says he is different from others who assaults girls.
@_Mands__7 ай бұрын
@efinah02305 dubious consent fantasies are actually very common for women, which I understand the discomfort around. But it's true - almost 70% of women polled in a clinical publication admitted to having had at least one.
@efinah23057 ай бұрын
@@_Mands__ But doesn't in the story at first she really doesn't want it then it becomes dubious? I don't know, it just seems really uncomfortable. It just gives me a guy sexually assaults a girl and even though the girl doesn't want it the guy is like, "But your body is telling me yes." Its just really uncomfortable. Can't there be CLEAR consent. Just makes me feel uncomfortable.
@_Mands__7 ай бұрын
@efinah2305 you are totally allowed to not like it and prefer to not read it. Nothing wrong with that xx It's just when people pretend things don't exist, that rubs me the wrong way.

Or people are concerned these books may glorify and in themselves normalise unacceptable criminal behaviour to their audience who is often minors. Normal is not defined by anyone describing or referring to anything as "normal" versus not normal but by showing you something constantly until you become desensitised and accepting. That's how human brains work whether people like it or not. Books directly invade our minds by the way we consume them and therefore can directly if not always conscious influence our mindset, world view and behaviour. It is a rational worry based on the understanding of the human mind and psyche that books like this could lead to readers of such books becoming victims of the behaviour displayed in them not /no longer understanding what is wrong /harmful /against their rights and what is healthy versus unhealthy relationships. That's where I'm with that. Obviously other media have can have a similar influence on us. There's plenty evidence far beyond this matter to prove how anything and everything can seem "normal" and therfore acceptable to you just because it is what you are sorrounded by.
