Just a little warning (I mentioned this before on another video I think) if you move to Germany (for longer than 3 months) as a freelancer you'll have to pay double the amount of health insurance payments (if you're employed with a regular employer, they pay half and the other half comes out of your wages). I've been self employed this year and have had to pay 495 Euros a month for health insurance... It's based on your income and is between 17-19% of your income. 🥲Really wish I knew that before moving to Germany.

This was such a great video Lydia, you should definitely do more in this format. Also, when you were speaking on spas and swimming pools. You can expect the same for Icelandic swimming pools although we're able to use bathing suits at spas. Looking forward to following you guys on your new adventure! :)

Good luck with the move to Montreal (especially this time of year ❄️). The east of Canada I found felt quite different and have more of a French influence than the west but I really enjoyed Montreal. You HAVE to visit La Banquise for poutine (they have veggie and vegan options)

This makes me want to make a video for my own channel about my experience of living in Germany. In total I've lived there for 5.5 years, but recently moved back to the UK after spending 4 years straight over there after graduating. My experience was both positive but also not the best lmao, soooo I think it will be a LOOONG video.💀 I think it's good to make these kinds of videos though because there was a lot I discovered about living in Germany that I WISH I'd known beforehand. Some of these things I wouldn't have known had I not moved there though. But still. I was ✨not thriving✨ most of the time over there. 😂

@@tweetibirdy One thing that immediately comes to mind whenever someone asks me that is the health insurance costs. It's compulsory to pay monthly healthcare insurance contributions - it's illegal if you don't. So even when I was unemployed with no financial help, I had to pay over 200 Euros a month. Then when I was a freelancer this year, I paid 495 Euros a month for insurance which meant a lot of my salary was already gone after paying for this, my rent, bills, and food. :(

Really good video, I wanted to ask something related to CBS , whether if colleges like CBS helps you get a job in the country or is this something that you have to do yourself completely? Is it only good for a degree or does it actually help with getting yourself placed in a company?

CBS definitely has some amazing connections with companies in Denmark, which there are often career fairs and networking events with. However, you would still need to take your own initiative to go to these events, build relationships and apply for jobs yourself
