For you Blue Dream is a boring strain. We have been growing Blue Dream for years here in Zimbabwe. We have crossed it with Malawi Gold and also another line with Swazi Gold. It gives the Biggest, strongest plants that get 5meters of height. Massive root stock and loads of branches. So my point is, for Breeding...Blue Dream is a Monster genetic❤ ❤

Blue dream is an amazing strain! We grew nothing but blue dream out in Humboldt county for like three years straight because it grew so good outdoor. We had some 7 to 8 pound massive plants. The only reason it gets a bad name here in the states is because it was over grown and that’s all you could get for a few years so now people are just tired of it but regardless, amazing cross. We need to get our hands on some of that pure durban poison you guys have

In my opinion most strains are overhyped or to say it better: most strains don't depend on what they really are, but what the makers/sellers want people to believe and try to induce feelings and opinions by making up fancy names that somehow makes one create a concept of taste or flavour in ones mind, along with nice "soft touch" packaging and other subtle elements of marketing. The thing with cannabis is that it simply has no definable scent or flavour and basically you can smell a huge variety of possible scents just from one bud, try it out and put some adjective in your mind that you want to smell and then smell a bud and try to "find" what you thought of. Of cause it's different when smelling a haze or a kush and so on but try it out with a few buds and you know what I mean.

I definitely agree with you on the seed prices . As a new grower it was hard finding the legit seed banks that have good strains that aren’t forcing you to buy a $100 5 pack . Cookies in my opinion isn’t worth the hype. It’s good but if I’m paying top dollar I want some gassy sour Burnt rubber strains (old school sour diesel ) started off with Barney’s farm due to it’s a house hold name in the cannabis world and they let you buy single seeds which is good for me as a beginner looking for strains I like . Shortly after I came across fast buds and I fell in love with their strains to the point I almost have one of every strain . Todays the day for my first harvest and I have to say I love photos better . Autos have amazing strains but I like the control over making sure I have a nice size plant and can keep the strain with clones .

I agree that cookies is over priced, but from a breeders perspective you have to look at the R and D of a properly bred cultivar. The seed market is oversaturated because of (as you mentioned) the number of seeds per plant/grow as well as the number of new breeders in the market. If you personally spent 3 or four generations of intense thousand plus pheno hunts developing a cultivar, you are going to have a floor price that you are willing to make TOTAL. If a cultivar has hype at all behind it, you have to get it while the hype is alive and before the early adopters snipe your market with clones that you bred. If you spent $25,000 and 2 years creating a genetic superstar, you have to sell 2,5000 seeds for $10/pop to break even without accounting for your own time and knowledgen blood sweat and tears. And you already know that after your first drop your market crashes. Now imagine doing all that without the hype and marketing of cookies. Now imagine you have to sell those seeds for 2$ apiece to a reputable seed bank to carry your gear. As a breeder myself, I don't think there should be an upper limit on seeds. If the market supports you, get whatever you can. Especially on first drops as a reputable breeder. Cheeseburgers are more than $10 these days.
@benayers8622 Жыл бұрын
and this is why the corporate fools were wrong to think they could buy into such a lucrative market. People perfected strains over decades out of pure love for the plant... No 1000 seed bulk dna marker test can come close to humans actually testing stuff out like they used to. Now its 30%thc tick 0%cbd tick then marketing rushes em out the door ready for the monthly hype release to keep all the dummies n younguns who havent had a good role model hooked! Terrible shame. Legalization could well be responsible for the death of the art of breeding. Dont get me started on marrowstemming or lab grade hormones either! Currently smokin some money maker and got uk cheese and original lemon skunk (not haze this is indica, add super silver to make superlemonhaze) all older balanced strains with lovely reliable stable effect profiles that feel just right cos its based on genuine human opinion and not daft numbers on a screen. I can add pure thc to any bud and bump it up to way over 30% natural levels but it's pointless because thats not how good strains are measured! Its all about balance..

I am 100% sure I'll take flack for this, but I find the standard $10 to $15 a bean to be barely acceptable. Anything, and I mean anything, over that is a 100% non-starter. I can pheno hunt the standard beans to find the fire that I seek. Anyone charging more than that is just a modern day PT Barnum, and anyone paying it is just stupid. Sadly, the charlatans who charge those prices are only able to do so because there are suckers out there who don't want to do the work and just want to buy their way into success. I'm avoiding naming names, but we can all think of breeders who charge stupid money per bean, and at least a couple who openly admit that they charge the prices that they do because people keep paying the asking price (and then in same breath use the fact that people pay their prices as a sign of their "quality".) Frankly, that kind of bravado is just a turn-off to me, and does nothing for me except to validate my decision to shun the purveyors as nothing more than snake oil sales people. While it is certainly possible to purchase fine consumer goods like watches, cars or whatever, those things are exactly that consumer goods that are finished goods. When talking about things like beans, purchasing good genetics is only the start. It's up to the individual practitioner, or dare I say it, artist, to turn them into a finished product. THAT kind of quality is only possible through hard work, perseverance, and the constant honing of ones skill and craft. Anyone who has gone down even a little bit of that path will already know that greatness can be found in the much less expensive alternatives (to a point, finding fire a bag bean is possible, but it's more luck than anything else.) Focus on being the best grower you can be. Do the work. There will be ups and there will be downs, but stick with it. You will get there. When you are "there", maybe then dabble with the stupidly priced genetics, and see if you can call the fire that the breeders claim is there, but until then, be more humble and call your fire from more down to earth kinds of genetics.

People tie their hopes too much to one particular seed, or even one pack of beans. From the sounds of it, the first three of these made the list only because of your personal grow experience involving only a single cultivar, or at most a single pack of seeds. Particularly with Grape Ape, it sounds like you got a loser pheno/pack and judged the strain a loser on that basis alone. There's a reason for all the hype behind that strain, a good cut of it is absolutely fire. But I have tried subpar ones as well. To be fair, you threw at least a couple caveats in there of; This is my experience with this particular cut, etc... so it's not like you didn't acknowledge that at all. But at the same time the video almost feels like it should have been titled "Cultivars that didn't pan out for me" (Plus, one producer I feel is overhyped) The truth is with darn near any cultivar, if you pop enough seeds you're more than likely eventually going to find something you like. Even though it's a ridiculously larger amount of work, that's kind of the appeal of running a huge facility where you can pop 100 seeds of every strain. You can just about bet you're going to find a really good one out of every variety if you're popping that many. That's literally the story of how Cinderella 99 was found. Puts you in for an awful lot more work though that's for sure. To be fair, if I made a video like this, Blue Dream would definitely be on the list of just one of those strains that's just super played out, and tends to be average much of the time. I've seen buddies grow it a few l times, grown a couple blue dream crosses myself, they do tend to be pretty homogenous as far as aroma and flavor, but it's not a terpene profile that I'm wild about (it's ok) and in all honesty, even though I do have a friend in Canada who has a cut of it that makes really nice, full melt bubble, Blue Dream and it's crosses do tend to not produce large quantities or particularly melty quality of bubble hash. And since full melt bubble hash is my thing, indeed literally what I made my entire KZbin channel about, That's the reason I wouldn't tend to grow a blue dream cross, but that doesn't mean there's not a good hash cut out there, If my Canadian friend managed to get me a clone, I'd love to grow his. I guess the point I'm making here is, it's not a matter of whether any given strain you might mention really, is a good strain, or if it will have certain properties that you're looking for. It's more a matter of how many seeds you're going to have to pop to get one with characteristics that are ideal for you. In the case of blue dream, I know if I buy blue dream seeds I'm going to probably have to buy a lot to find a phenotype like my friends, It's not a common trait of the strain so it is one that I wouldn't bother with either. Definitely agree with you on the overhype thing on the cookies. I do kind of balk at $20 beans myself a little bit most of the ones I buy are cheaper than that. But occasionally if I really want a genetic I'm willing to pay that much. I do agree it is a bit high priced for as many seeds as you turn out from a single plant. Happy hashing, friends#!!

Plenty of cultivars dont produce hardly any beans. So i can see why something that doesnt produce many beans would demand more of a premium. But still i aint paying $20a bean.

dont buy seeds from "Cookies," buy their strains from better breeders such as Barney's. their Biscotti Mintz is one of the beszt strains I have ever had by far. I am not like you newbies on here I have been growing for like 25 years and was smoking Amsterdam weed in HS while everyone else was smoking mexican brick lol

I dont like blue cookies, wedding pie and ice cream cake, they just paralyse my head and body, its not fun, 90s strains were much funner from everything i remember. The only cookies i would try again is Sherbert, oreoz, coco puff and lemon merenge.

Predatory pricing seems to be a trend in this industry. Cookies, Trim-Daddy and Canatrol. All are way overpriced!!!
@91750fast Жыл бұрын
Cannatrol is a priceless instrument of quality, you get what you pay for. If you are even thinking about using a trim daddy, you have no business using a cannatrol as your weed will already be ruined. Cookies is in everything, you can get cookie genetics for dirt cheap anywhere.
@JoeyProffitt1978 Жыл бұрын
@@91750fast I agree that genetics should be dirt cheap. Seeds are plentiful. I rarely purchase anything since I have a nice collection of strains I just keep cloning. I considered a Trim-Daddy because I harvest a plant every few weeks or so and I can't stand trimming. I understand that using it on the sugar leaves would basically mangle your nugz. I was planning on using it on fan leaves to just reduce the amount of time I spend in trim jail. If even, only a bit. As for the Canatrol... it's not priceless. It's $1600. And that's way too much. I paid almost the same amount for my refrigerator. And before you try to tell me that it's somehow worth more than a refrigerator. Let me point out a few things. My refrigerator, as all others,, has 2 chambers each with it's individual environments; freezing and cooling. It's also much larger than the Canatrol. Which means it holds much more and required more raw materials to assemble. It hooks up to my water line and makes it's own ice and filters the tap water. It also hooks up to my wifi and I can set it to order food on it's own. Not only is the Canatrol only the size of a mini fridge. But it only has one chamber. If you want to dry a new batch, you need to empty the contents that are curing and replace them after your batch dries. It does NOT hook up to a water line. In fact, it doesn't even have a reservoir for humidity control. You wet a sponge in a dish to provide humidity. And the excess moisture is dumped in to a drip pan that you must manually empty. And it does NOT tell you when that drip pan is full, so if you don't remember to check it then you will have a mess. It has absolutely ZERO blue tooth or wifi capabilities. Don't get me wrong. I think it's a really cool appliance. And I would love to have one. Even had it in my cart one night. Just can't hit the buy button because I know that the price is a total rip off. To justify that price it needs to have separate chambers for drying and curing. It needs, at least, a reservoir that can be filled for humidity. And it needs some sort of Wifi or Bluetooth to send me a notification that the drip pan is full, the water is empty and info on the environments. At it's current state, it's a total rip off at $1600. I don't think I'd pay more than $1000. Probably not even that. If it had everything I mentioned included, I might be able to talk myself into $1600. Maybe. But, at it's current specs; It's a scam.

@stangmann1521 value is subjective. Still way out of reason for me. I've been drying, curing, and storing for basically free. Get nothing but compliments on my smoke.
