I’m currently half way through my junior year of college, and I have also been working on building out my skill set so I can become more well rounded. I sat there this summer having the same realization to myself and just thinking “I really should be doing more with my time and working harder” so I worked more on my side projects, started reading more about certain concepts i was interested but not well versed in, and put my most into my classes. But.. since the summer I’ve also been trying to apply to as many positions as I can because with that previous realization also came the thought that I am at that point where I should have something real and tangible under my belt. After applying to so many internships for such a long time I’ve slowly been getting more demotivated which sucks because I’m really not quite sure how to go about it and what my next steps in the field should be. And so I’ve just been on the fence - on the one hand i’ve been convincing myself that it’s not a problem and that in the long run I’ll be able to find something, even if after a couple of years of nothing professional and working on my skills, but on the other, that same hope is kind of dwindling :/

I know exactly how you feel, it's tough but stay persistent and keep working on your skills! From what I see your on the right path and are pushing yourself much harder than the average engineer so something great is bound to come to you.
