I wish church today would go back to the old time music like this instead of having rock and roll bands. Make church music great again

I would like to find churches/denominations in my area that sing A Cappella. I go to a congregation that does but I want to find a Holy Spirit filled congregation with elders that lead spiritually and a cappella singing. I am asking for a lot. If you have resources to share, I would appreciate it.

Too many times this song is dragged down and sung slowly. It’s not supposed to be a sad, sorrowful song. It’s meant to be a joyful, hopeful song. Hallelujah, I’m flying away from a life of of sorrow and pain to the promised land of joy and peace, where God shall wipe away all tears.

I don't know who wrote the words, but the wonderful G. F. Händel wrote the melody, so it's quite old.
@joeldavid05924 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry, I was wrong. The words are by John Newton (1725-1807) and the music is by William Croft (1678-1727). Händel is often given credit because he used the melody in a larger work.

Just to let you know, your recordings are doing a lot of Good Kingdom Work. A group of us sing weekly at an elderly Care Center in Texas, and there are several times where folks have requested songs that some of us have never heard or sung with the Church. Usually, we've either butchered a song horribly, or we've had to pass on the requests. There have been several of your recordings that we've listened to while following along in the old 'Songs of the Church' hymnal, and now, much to the delight of the residents, we can honor their requests! Many thanks, keep up the Good Work.

Sings differently because The hymn mistakenly,, is about death: . . . . repeatedly says, "when I die" . Jesus said that I would never die (John. 11:25) . . . . 🎵 *NEVER DIE! . NEVER DIE! OH GLORY! . . I'LL___ NEVER DIE!!* 🎵
@acappellahymns2 жыл бұрын
I think there are a couple of ways of looking at this. One is like you did where the song is *about* death. But I don't think it is. I think it's about *the next life*. Jesus admits that a person does die - and also lives (eternally). John 11:25 "Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life.[a] Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live," He admits there that a person does die. But as long as that person believes in Him, they will live. When I die - I'll fly away. Because I believe in Him.

@@acappellahymnsI take v.26 literally: "whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall *never die.*

@@LanceGrey Lance, the scripture here is talking about spiritual life. Surely you do not deny that people physically die? Even Jesus physically died. When the song says "When I die...", it's talking about a physical death. Not a spiritual one. You are absolutely correct and cite a great scripture. If we live and believe in Christ, we shall never spiritually die.

@@acappellahymns; Thats why I said the song is "mistaken" . . . . Will your life have an end? . . "When I die" is sloppy wording for a believer to put in a praise song. 🎵😄

A Cappella Hymns I was just thinking that the question was not polite. Thank you. The hymn 'Gloria Patri' can also be found in 'hymnary.org' (you can search from Google: Gloria Patri Methodist hymnal) but, sorry, I don't know whether it is copyrighted or not. The hymn is also present in the 'Sacred Songs and Solos' hymn book, hymn no. 256. I just asked you whether you could do it or not. Thank you.

There is physical death and spiritual death. Physically, all living things die. Even Jesus died on the cross. And then rose again. 1 Peter 3:18 - "....being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit" 1 Corinthians 15:3 - "...that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures" Among many others.
